Downed tree &utility pole are the reasons power will not be restored until Friday. 3days w/o heat/hot water. Sat will be spent throwing away contents of my refrigerator&freezer. Anyone thinking about moving to the “other” side of town should know this area is last on @alabamapower.bsky.social list

Lost power almost five hours ago and still no ETA from @alabamapower.bsky.social
I’m worried that it maybe a few days before it is restored. My neighborhood is always last to get electricity restored.

Trump announced today that he's installing himself as head of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C. and dismissing several of its board members.
Trump says he'll remove Kennedy Center board members, name himself chair

I can’t read the article because it’s behind a subscription wall, but I agree with their post.

Suggestion for all news reporting outlets. Don’t put the important info behind a subscription wall. A majority of the public can’t afford multiple subscriptions.

Where’s Congress? The Democrats? Why are our elected representatives so quiet? It’s beyond concerning.
Déjà vu all over again.

The irreparable harm has already occurred and the powers that be are hell-bent on destroying the country that we have known. It wasn’t a perfect country and there were things we needed to address and deal with, but it was way better than what we will be left with when the Republic falls.

A federal judge has restricted the Elon Musk-led government efficiency team from accessing a critical Treasury Department payment system. The order, issued early Saturday, halts access temporarily and demands the destruction of any downloaded information, saying there is risk of “irreparable harm.”

I can’t help but think about all the people who said they were voting for Trump’s policies and not Trump himself. I still have a hard time believing this is what more than half the country voted for - nonsense and even more chaos.
cannot be said enough that for a decade a critical number of americans have simply refused to accept that he means what he says
I hold a lot of disdain for the people who didn’t see this coming given P2025 but it does seem like the actual support for these goals is nonexistent, everyone who voted for him did so under the incredibly stupid assumption that he wouldn’t do this

I’m convinced the only person Trump listens to is himself. He only cares about himself.
"Susie Wiles will keep the crazy under control," they said. "She's the grown up in the room," they said. "Trump will listen to her an not do anything crazy," they said.

Start the clock.

Can’t wait for all the “sticker-shock” comments from those who voted for Trump.

Everyone deserves mercy, even those that disappoint you.
May I suggest something radical? Have mercy on people. Even on here.

What’s happening is unprecedented, so politicians, journalists, public servants etc are doing their best to adjust. Not doing exactly what you think they should doesn’t mean they’re giving up or giving in.

I have the inauguration on but have decided to #mealprep for the week and pamper myself with a pedicure and a facial. Also getting my work outfits ready for the week. A little #selfcare goes along way.

White #Booksky - this is my first book recommendation for you all. (I’m a librarian.)

This is a REALLY important read.

But don’t let this be the only thing you do. Education and action go hand in hand.

I agree! I left Twitter a couple of weeks ago.
There is no better time than right now to abandon Twitter.

Make it useless. Worthless.

This post reminds me of Leona Helmsley, a real estate billionaire, who was reported to have said “We don’t pay taxes; only the little people pay taxes.” She was the female version of Trump back in her day. The tax code in this country is set up to benefit the wealthy. #SadButTrue

The loudest people are often attention whores, that are full of shit, &desperately seeking power &respect fr/those around them. Problem is no one is willing to respect a desperate person that often acts out, uses manipulation, gossip, &lies in the pursuit of the power &respect they desperately want.
