I saw Train Dreams this weekend and enjoyed it. Nothing quite breaks your heart like the understanding that time, love, friends, family, and life is passing you by, and when it's gone it's not coming back. And that's scary, and that's beautiful, and the film nailed all the emotions of the novella.

It's the time of year I set aside an evening to watch Sport Team I Like try to put a bouncy ball into a score hole more times than Sport Team I Feel Indifferent Toward. It is the only sport I know anything about so please do not take this as an indication that I know of other sporting circumstances.

Every single true crime story that takes place before 1920 goes: "He entered Otis Jefferson's apothecary and asked for 44 tablets of strychnine to kill some rats in his barn. Two days later his new wife disappeared, or as he said, left to visit a distant relative. No one asked further questions."

It appears I have won a MacArthur Fellowship Doofus Grant and I now owe them $800,000. This writing degree gets more useless by the day!

Ten years from now, after trillions more dollars spent and untold limited resources wasted, we'll still be making fun of how useless and shitty AI is, all while it absolutely ruins numerous industries, occupations, and the environment.

One Battle After Another is easily the best movie I've seen all year, by a mile. I walked out of that the same way I felt walking out of No Country For Old Men, There Will Be Blood, and Once Upon a Time In Hollywood.

It dawned on me today that I'm getting close to 20 years since joining MySpace/social media and meeting a bunch of "online friends" who became face-to-face friends. I met more important people this way who I'm still in touch with than high school and college combined.
