I tend to think of him in terms of Hard Boiled, The Killer, Face OFF, and MI:2, but these two film offer something deeper subtler even in action, while remaining choice examples of how to shoot action...

Norma drops the act quite a bit in film, but she will also turn it up, especially when caged or insulted, and when she does she neither ups the camp or downs it it is a median between her true self and the invention, the marriage and the divorce..she is neither one woman nor the other

Revisited Sunset Boulevard as I am prone to do, and I remain steadfast that too much is made of the theatrical quality and not enough of its purpose, and more importantly of the humanity and more subtle marks in Swansons goaty performance...

Brown mentions the Dominicans and the Columbians as inspirations for trafficking, but while that may be the case in the strictest terms this is right out of the American playbook. The Carter is an occupation, a demonstration of power. The line about the tenants IS America!!

My annual revisit to Mario Van Peeble's "New Jack City" ( more vivid with each watch) and the depiction of the black capitalist, the supposed visionary, and what is being borrowed from their white counterparts, and what is being transformed in the process - is so impressive..

One of the major keys to all these entries is the casting. Not only do each of the Turtles feel distinct from each other, but theyre chemistry is off the charts and they are HILARIOUS for it..
