Officially left the democratic party. Enough is enough.

Welp, that was fun being excited about the democratic party again for 5 days...

One of my favorite vaccine facts is the antigen load across all routine vaccines today is 90% less than that in the 1950s-1980s when killed whole vaccines were common.
Trump: "It's too much liquid. Too many different things are going into that baby at too big a number. The size of this thing when you look at it. It's like 80 different vaccines and beyond vaccines."

Women's pain is already undertreated. There's no easy alternative to acetaminophen in pregnancy. Aspirin and Ibuprofen have actual negative proven effects on a fetus.

Also stop blaming mothers.

This misinformation will hurt people.

6-6 tie. 1 person on the phone disconnected and didn't vote. Chair breaks the tie as a no.

Fails, thankfully.

One member just suggested to amend this and strike "require a prescription."

That would make the vote, "It is the sense of the committee that state and local jurisdictions should for the administration of a COVID-19 vaccination."

????

Again, this is so vague that none of the members understand what this vote would mean. In the presentation an example to be added on the VIS was the vaccine may cause birth defects (which is false). ACIP historically does NOT usually vote on this type of vote.
September 19, 2025 at 6:56 PM
The individual ACIP members don't seem to understand what they are voting on right now. Voting yes on #4 is requiring shared decision making with a healthcare professional. This would prevent people from walking into a pharmacy and just getting the vaccine. They are all twisted up in terminology.

"We know children are biting children on the playground"

-Public comment for why universal Hep B vaccination at birth is beneficial.
September 19, 2025 at 6:41 PM
lol. ACIP is basically giving NO guidance to the US population. Everything is "individual" risk. Practically speaking, this will cause fewer and fewer people getting vaccinated.
September 19, 2025 at 6:38 PM
It's conflicting when one theme for the committee has been individual choice / freedom, yet 2 of the votes (requiring a script and this complex sentence) are the exact opposite.
September 19, 2025 at 6:34 PM
This is the type of misinformation that is going to lead to decreased vaccination among pregnant women and result in more sick infants. WILD statement being made. The data is clear that the COVID vaccines are not associated with birth defects.

We have gone from the margin of error to the margin of effort.

On the day before the election, we stand on the verge of toppling a political dynasty and winning a city we can afford. But we can only do it with you.

New ACIP group will be discussing thimerosal in vaccines next week. This will be a good litmus test for the new panel.

(It's a preservative used only in multi-dose vials and shown to be safe in large studies.)

When Americans raised concerns about RFK Jr.'s anti-vaccine views, he said he was "not gonna take away vaccines from anybody."

But now he's taking them away from millions of mommas and babies.

Vaccine recommendations should be based on science, not RFK Jr.'s political agenda.

Or, you could try just not giving a tax break to the rich.

How many hospitalized patients need care in the ICU? How many of them survive? What interventions do they receive there?

These are some of the questions I had two years ago while trying to write the "background" section for my masters thesis. But I couldn't find the answers... they did not exist.

Apropos of nothing, the first dose of MMR is recommended at 6 mo for all international travel given ongoing measle outbreaks (usual timing is 12 mo).
