People act like the US isn’t already the second largest manufacturing economy in the world.
Everybody romanticizing about the heyday of American manufacturing needs to carefully listen to one (1) Bruce Springsteen song.

Bike. I liked the shadows here. I thought the contrast was neat.

First attempts at #streetphotography

I was pretty far away from the couple, but I thought the framing was kinda neat. Eventually, I'd like to build up the courage to do street portraiture. I think this couple would have been perfect for it.

So lately I’ve been trying to buy local. No amazon, target, Walmart, even chain restaurants.

Not only have I saved money (since, it turns out, I don’t actually need many of the things I used to buy), I’ve also discovered some really cool local shops.

There’s a guy that sells and repairs pens!

There are no words in any language on earth, existing or dead, that can fully express the loathing I feel for this administration.
Entire staff at federal agency that funds libraries and museums put on leave
The staff of the Institute of Museum and Library Services was placed on administrative leave Monday morning, following a meeting between IMLS leadership and DOGE staff.

More black and white.

I’m going to start a 30 day photo challenge in April to help build my skills and understanding since I am very much new to the craft.

Any #photography folks out there with suggestions on how to structure it?

Remember, no one is coming to save us. We are the ones we’ve been waiting for.

Look out for your community and the people around you. Our fellow humans are struggling and a strong community presence can help everyone.

Almost every major problem people face in the US, whether it’s crime, homelessness, health issues, food insecurity, or a number of other things could be fixed by improving people’s material condition.

Instead of helping, we punish, vilify and oppress the people that need help the most.

Another way of putting it is that DOGE are going to screw up the SSA system so thoroughly it'll be unrecoverable.
DOGE is planning to move the computer system of the Social Security Administration off the old programming language it uses, COBOL, to a new system. In 2017, the SSA estimated that such a migration would take about five years. DOGE is planning to take just a few months, using artificial intelligence

Getting into a creative endeavor like art or writing or video production or programming or whatever is always going to be hard and time consuming, and you’re going to struggle and you won’t always be 100% satisfied with your work, but that’s the joy of it? The joy of the process, of becoming better

I honestly do not understand how easy it is for some people to completely dehumanize entire groups.

It’s sick, and I’m not sure those people are even redeemable.
