These are the stitches I put into this slow stitch meditation today. I'm not sure if there is more to this, but it's a start. 🧵 #wip #fiberart #markmaking
🧵#stitching is the only thing that makes sense right now.

Even when it's just making marks of pink on pink, it's better than feeling helplessness.

Reminder to keep creating.

To keep showing up for each other.

That it doesn't need to make sense to make things.

The sound of the gentle rain in San Diego has been so nice.

It's like the earth can just soak it up, and swell with goodness.

I often sleep to water sounds, so this is actually perfect for rest.

I needed a rest day today, and I got it.

May you get the rest you need as well.

I sewed until my right arm and shoulder hurt.

Then I sewed again, until it said, really, please stop.

But I didn't want to stop making.

So I drew with acrylic paint pens on my practice book with my non-dominant left hand.

It worked okay, but it really made me want to paint.

Current POV: fabric chosen and pinned together for slow stitch / stitch meditation, in my own way.

Making to get back to baseline, and lifting out of the hole.

May these colors and patterns invite you to create and be well. Love. ❤️🦊 🧵

Look, do I buy myself lots of little treats? Yes. Do I deserve them for putting up with me every day? Also a big yes.

Close up #slowstitching #handstitching for blocking out the intense things going on in the world.

These bright pink and teal blue are my favorites. So much life to them.

May these colors and stitches invite you into a world that is alive and safe, even while it's being created as it has for me.

I don't think it's right that nightmares can sneak into nap time.

Wait your turn, man.

Naps are for a good time, not a long time, so they shouldn't have scary things in them.

So many hours of hand stitching on fabric scraps. Play in progress, and process. This is for healing, and to focus my attention on devotion.

Current view, for resting in bed after treatment.

Hand stitching, coconut water, covers of epic songs, a bagel with cream cheese delivered by a kind son...

and Philip De Fox, watching over me.

It's a good day so far over here. Just got to block out the noise.

I wish us all peace today.

I need to read this every day, all day: “Power demands sad bodies. Power needs sadness because it can dominate it. Joy, in consequence, is resistance because joy doesn't give up. Joy as a life force leads us places where sadness can never go.” -Gilles Deleuze 1925-1975

A new piece to #slowstitch, and be with.

I cut the fabric scraps into smaller pieces, and layered them.

New beginnings, stitched from pieces gathered.

I did this to remind myself that I can receive energy from making. It don't need to wait until I have more energy.

This is enough, for now.

@janettedalgliesh.bsky.social Janette, I had a bag of Australian strawberry licorice this week, and I thought of you. I hope you are well. Thank you for being in my life.

ANYWAY, sorry, here's a bird. Pause and regard the bird. The bird is happy, for the bird has found a peanut. May we all find the small joy of finding a tasty snack today.

I didn't like the idea that there was no time for stitching today, so here is what the one thread I had threaded, and 15 minutes of #slowstitching looks like on this #wip

We make time for what matters.

No time for #stitching this morning, but here is where I'm at with it.

I think the top part looks like a pirate treasure map.

The middle looks like an eye?

The bottom part looks like a robot on a mountain?

Who knows what is actually happening here? Not me. I'm just the one who stitches it.

Sewing #WIP this down, I saw a robot.

Particularly, the shape of the robot from The Flaming Lips album, "Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots."

The fabric and stitches are in charge of this creation, so if it wants it: yes.

#slowstitching #art #fabric scraps, in progress for fun and exploration.

#handstitching work in progress, doing it for the process of it. #slowstitch #artandcraft

Allowing the fabrics to lead the way on this.

I'm almost halfway through with my goal to hug my adult son Xenneth 100 times.

This is my kind of goal setting, where there is no failure, only just time it takes to meet the goal.

This screenshot is from the self care app Finch, where I track my personal goals.
