Hi everyone — a quick reintroduction! 👋
I study how people form beliefs, how media literacy can be taught, and how science can be communicated to foster trust and understanding. I often share research about these topics, and a goal of mine is to help bridge the gap between science and the public.

Excellent thread on how misinformation harms democracies, recommend the whole thing. Democracy requires trust in other people, and the modern era makes that harder and harder.
We’ve seen this repeatedly. QAnon. COVID denial. Election lies. War crimes denial. In each case, the problem wasn’t just what people believed, it was how those beliefs hardened into identity and made correction impossible.

Key takeaway: the product doesn’t suffer, but the process does. And when it comes to essays, the process *is* how they learn.
