So far today, Chuck Schumer has said his strategy for preventing Trump sending troops into blue cities is to win over Republican senators (!) while Hakeem Jeffries praised Eric Adams's courage and authenticity (!!) while refusing to endorse Mamdani. Again.

I am genuinely unsure what’s happening to the Speaker these days. Wasn’t Adams indicted for corruption, seen to be visibly swearing allegiance to Trump in exchange for a pardon, and then found to be negotiating with Trump for a reward if he dropped out? Does the virtue of civility know no bounds?

America has been generally pretty fascist since 9/11, and even worse if you look at specific groups in the world war 2 and civil rights eras.
