Other, more serious countries have actual constitutional courts.

We, however, have a 9-member super-legislature with total veto power over the chief executive & both houses of the parliament.

A “Republic,” if you can keep it 🤷‍♂️🤦‍♂️
The Supreme Court’s “shadow docket” has cast very different shadows depending on which party holds the White House.

When lower courts blocked Trump admin policies, SCOTUS intervened on an emergency basis to lift those orders in 77% of cases.

For the Biden administration, that number was 0%.

Almost twice as many people ride the New York City bus every day as live in Wyoming.

The bus should have two senators
The Senators that voted 'yes' on this disastrous bill represent more than 30 million FEWER Americans than the Senators that voted 'no.'

“No tax on tips” won’t matter when people don’t have enough disposable income to go out anymore bc that money is being used to take care of aging parents or family members who need constant medical care.

The Navy named a destroyer after Oscar Peterson in 1943, one year after he died.

Pretty sure his family was aware of that honor even if Jake Tapper was not.

Folks can argue about the relevancy of the “Democratic socialist” label all day. But if that’s what you’re hung up on, you’re missing the larger point.

People aren’t chasing labels. They’re chasing change. Real, structural, unapologetic change.

The Roberts Court, in one fell swoop, has:

1) Allowed states to defund Planned Parenthood even for non-abortion care so to...
2) Rip away people's right to choose their care provider under Medicaid while...
3) Advancing a neoconfederate understanding of our civil rights laws.

This can't go on.
KBJ's Medina dissent highlights the twin prongs of the pro-democracy vision she's been articulating since joining SCOTUS: generally deferring to Congress's will and specifically reading Reconstruction-era civil rights laws as robustly as their framers intended: www.supremecourt.gov/opinions/24p...
