I once wrote a letter to a federal political party's executive about a racist incident I witnessed at one of their events. Within a couple hours, I had someone with no official position with that party email me threats. He had my personal email and knew where I lived.

Do not give parties this info.
BC's democratic and electoral reform committee recommends requiring Elections BC to share voters' contact info (email, phone numbers) with political parties and candidates "under strict privacy guidelines"

To that I say: Ew 👎👎👎

I 1000% do not trust partisans with my personal contact info #bcpoli

This party is so desperate to ban any kind of free speech or expression that their leader doesn't personally approve of.
One BC's Dallas Brodie has another bill, this one would ban the flying of any flags on public property except the official national, provincial and municipal flags

She mentions Palestinian and transgender flags as examples her bill would ban

@melwoods.me: We must not overcomplicate what’s going on here.

This is the Alberta government saying the rights of trans kids to receive life-saving health care, go by their own pronouns at school or play on sport teams don’t matter as much as the Smith government’s right to dictate their lives.

There is not a single reported instance of a youth under the age of 18 receiving gender-affirming lower surgery in Canada. Yet, the Alberta government considers the issue of such public importance they pre-emptively suspended their own citizens' human rights. xtramagazine.com/power/politi...

This is so important to remember: you think you have to post on social media to “reach people” but the reachable people increasingly aren’t on social media (good!)
Overall social media use is declining.

Between 2020 and 2024, more Americans — especially the youngest (18–24) and oldest (65+) — report using no social media at all.

A small group of heavy users remains, but the middle is thinning out.

Chatbots — LLMs — do not know facts and are not designed to be able to accurately answer factual questions. They are designed to find and mimic patterns of words, probabilistically. When they’re “right” it’s because correct things are often written down, so those patterns are frequent. That’s all.

The next two involuntary care facilities in the province will be in Prince George and Surrey, Eby says

These facilities will help make communities safe, according to the premier

Eventually, there will be involuntary care facilities in every region, he adds
