Even if he wins he'd be 74 when he takes office and if something happens he'd be replaced by a likely GOP governor. If he ran for governor he stands a much better chance of winning and would have a younger Lt. Governor. This is a selfish decision on his part. He just wants back in Washington.

I've seen many faculty/staff/admin in higher education act like what's happening just requires some tweaks or pivots and that everything will eventually return to normal. It won't.

You can't pivot from extortion, hostile takeovers, fascism, spineless leadership, lack of fight, or lack of integrity.

How State Courts Pushed Back on an Infamous U.S. Supreme Court Case
Dred Scott, widely considered a stain on the U.S. Supreme Court’s history, denied citizenship to Black Americans in 1857. Many state supreme courts refused to follow it.

I don’t think anyone is prepared for what they just did w/ ICE.

This is not a simple budget increase. It is an explosion - making ICE bigger than the FBI, US Bureau of Prisons, DEA,& others combined.

It is setting up to make what’s happening now look like child’s play. And people are disappearing.

The test for Dems now (if the fail, vote them out) is messaging. Every Dem should already have a plan ready to communicate the impact of this bill.

It's not enough to vote against it. How are you reaching those who don't follow closely to communicate what's in the bill and the terrible impact?

We need a new generation of leaders who are the voices of democracy, freedom, social justice, & the rule of law.

A new generation that gives meaning to the “we” in “we the people.”

Instead of fretting over Zohran Mamdani, the Democratic Party should embrace him as the future.

The degree to which the Constitution has been eviscerated by a tyrannical president, a complicit Supreme Court, and a criminally negligent Congress in just five months is unfathomable. We're, quite literally, no longer a Constitutional republic. America is subject to one man's personal rule.

All people's rights under the Constitution are, per the Supreme Court, 100% alienable. If you cannot hire a lawyer and engage in effective litigation against the power of the entire executive branch of the federal government, you have no rights at all.

Dems on the national and state level should look no further than Zohran Mamdani/Brad Lander for what the party can be, the type of candidates to run, and how to run progressive campaigns that are popular with demographics they claim to struggle to reach. Regressive, centrist politics aren’t the way.

We still have no idea who the ICE agents are. They could be insurrectionists, extremist militiamen or criminals themselves, chasing law-abiding citizens down the street for recording their kidnappings. The odds they aren't are low. Congress must raise hell about this. A masked gang runs our country.
