From a purely political perspective i actually do think its wise for them to just try and make this a partisan wash

American meme stock market is a way of turning retail gambling money into a lower spread for bondholders and thats beautiful
Diane told me distressed funds keep eating her ATM proceeds so I asked how many ATM proceeds she has and she said she just goes to the baggies and gets more equity afterwards so I said it sounds like she’s just feeding retail to mfers in Darien wearing Loro and then her shareholders started crying

Am reminded that the halifax explosion led to architects mass-building a neighbourhood out of cinderblocks. And everyone thinks its gorgeous despite being quite dense.

It turns out you can make a neighbourhood quite nice and functional by hiring architects instead of drafters

its fascinating how common this view is despite city planning in the anglosphere being incredibly good when not doing that
I would like to challenge this assertion by an Eastern Passage resident, she said: “It’s not rocket science: you don’t put high-density units in between single-family dwellings. That’s not good city planning.”

I would argue that it is, and a mix of densities is good for cities & their residents.
Eastern Passage housing developments a mistake in more ways than one, say neighbours

I think the US tech advantage is just extremely brittle, especially if US foreign policy remains this dumb
The International Criminal Court is ditching Microsoft Office, saying it’s too dependent on US tech, in favor of Open Desk, a German open source alternative.

The move comes after Microsoft revoked ICC head Karim Khan’s email access when he was sanctioned by the US for the warrant against Netanyahu.

Like this take a lot
One really jarring change in my lifetime is growing up seeing "private industry only does last-mile research and implementation, public/academic needs to be the wide funnel" change to "VC has no problem funding moonshot tech that might be decades away."
Back in May, I wrote about Endolith, a company using customized microbes to extract critical minerals from mining waste.

Today the company announced its Series A fundraising round, pulling in nearly $14 million to commercialize the technology. Pretty cool.
