Remember the Cass Report, which supposedly "followed the science" on trans kids health? The huge York University epidemiology study on which it was based has finally been published, and it contradicts many of the report's conclusions. By @gidmk.bsky.social.

Well. It happened again. Pregnancy #6 has also ended in miscarriage.

I'm am 2 days out from my next scheduled scan, at 10+2. I've never had a pregnancy make it that far before. Of course my morning sickness has just started easing off, so I'm feeling extra anxious

The number of cases of cervical cancer reported in Scotland among women given the HPV vaccine at 12-13 years of age is now zero. A remarkable achievement.

A study published by Public Health Scotland finds that the HPV vaccine is "highly effective".

The only people who benefit from NHS privatisation are the private company shareholders. Private companies treat the NHS like a cash cow. They train barely any staff. They mostly don’t provide emergency services. They often cherry pick easy cases+ leave complex cases to the NHS. It needs to stop.🚨🚨🚨

So far, we know of 5 women who have been killed because of their state's abortion bans, 4 of whom are women of color. That's not an accident. Abortion bans are intentionally racist, and Black women already have 3X greater maternal mortality rate than white women. This deadly result IS the point.

"D&Cs — a staple of maternal health care"

Beyond shocking that the appropriate care is being denied because of these absurd restrictive laws
NEW: Porsha Ngumezi is the fifth case we've reported on in which a woman died after not receiving a D&C or its second-trimester equivalent in time, or at all.

Her case raises questions about how abortion bans are pressuring doctors to avoid standard care even in straightforward miscarriages.

Just to drive home the point: Research into misinformation strongly suggests that you do not repeat lies, even to debunk them. Don't quote tweet or screenshot lies. Paraphrase or say someone said something false or objectionable, but repeating lies helps to spread them.

Just watched Joy on Netflix.

A beautiful and sensitive film, giving recognition to the hidden women involved in the development of IVF. We all know of Louise Brown, but I didn't know there were 282 women, 5 pregnancies and 2 babies through their study. So much unfulfilled hope, and grief.

Great set of recommendations here. We are both so fortunate to have had support at work both from our colleagues, and from workplace policy (yay NHS), but it shouldn't be down to luck.

But even without pressure to return from my employer, I still felt guilty having time off to recover and grieve.

The grief of pregnancy loss, and recurrent loss, is so complex. It feels quite different to other, more familiar, types of grief. And can be a state that you are constantly maintaining if you keep trying for a successful pregnancy. I'm glad to see research being done here

Yesterday I booked with the midwife. I've done this twice before: that first heady pregnancy, that we assumed would end with a baby, and for #3. Both with the same local midwife, who remembered me, & was very kind, but it was exhausting & retraumatising having to talk through the details of my losses

When I was pregnant the first time round, I started a blog. I wanted to record my experience through the lens of someone who has trained as a midwife. I drafted a bunch of posts but didn't share much before that pregnancy ended in miscarriage

What the UK needs is massive change.

End Brexit.
End the House of Lords.
Tax the rich.
Renationalise all the essentials, Water, Power, Rail, Mail.

And change it so they can't be privatised again without a Referendum.
