Apparently the new entrance at 47th Street for #GrandCentral has opened up, but I’m not sure when. It should help relieve overcrowding on the current entrance at the old JP Morgan building.

“Oh no metro cards are gone,” as I use one to get on the bus.

First day #LIRR ever maybe

Looks like the MTA updated the UI for service alerts on buses, looks a lot better than what we had before.

So the #LIRR added a new penny press machine at the GCM waiting room, it costs one penny to use.

Got a surprise #wmata mystery train, where it goes? Nobody knows (It was a green line train to Branch Av)

Unable to take a photo but the #LIRR seems to have gotten its own #holidaytrain this year. It’s looks similar to the Metro North one from last year. Here’s a reference picture of the Metro North one.

I guess I can ride from Midtown West to lower Manhattan the long way now. IMO the new service pattern seems overboard, I don’t feel like increasing the complexity of the lines make them easier to navigate. I’d rather go for a simplification of the lines, with dedicated local and express routes.
I’m really excited about the NYC Ferry route optimization plan announced today, which will go into effect next month.

The new network (1st image) will provide direct connections from Queens to the Bronx and Staten Island to Brooklyn, and it will help alleviate crowding on the E. River. Thoughts?

I wonder how many people who are willing to upgrade to go first class are too stubborn to use anything but public transit at their destination. I have to fall under some minority of a minority.

Wait this is big! Planes and train working together makes traveling easier for everyone. I hope Amtrak can do that same with their airport stations too.

Can’t really say I’m confident about the bus substitution plan if the LIRR strike goes through, the 7 is one of the busiest subways lines in Queens and Howard Beach is after the split on the A, while also being the busier of the 2 branches.

Riding the first train out of DC today

Looks like I’m getting an early sneak peak into the future of @amtrak.com #acela
August 27, 2025 at 7:46 PM
Looks like people are packing on #LIRR trains to go US Open. Public transit is crucial for special events like this. It’s a shame our neighbors down south didn’t get the message.
August 26, 2025 at 2:46 PM
I guess the #nextgen @amtrak.com hype is dying down I bought the dip
August 26, 2025 at 12:11 PM
Well #Amtrak released the new “NextGen” Avelia Liberty #Acela departures on the app with a new label. Most train are labeled correctly however I did find one missing the label. All of the trips have dramatically increased in price for the inaugural day.

This weekend @nyctbus.bsky.social is running an extra special route (Q127). It’s the Dragon Boat Festival shuttle that connects the Mets subway station to Corona Park, saving attendees from a ~30 min walk to the festival. This is one of the only times you’ll see MTA buses operating through the park.

So the stops with the highest ridership gains were stops were there was a decrease in fare and/or an increase of service. Go figure.
While LIRR's top-line ridership numbers continue to inch closer to normal, station-by-station breakdowns tell a very different story...

In places where LIRR has lowered average fares (e.g. through expanding CityTicket in NYC) ridership is performing BETTER than 2019 levels.
August 9, 2025 at 10:10 PM
Oh no anyways, private vehicles shouldn’t be hogging up all the street space in the city.
August 4, 2025 at 5:37 PM
Fun fact the #LIRR / #MNR TrainTime app is capable of tracking #Amtrak trains but only from New Haven to New Rochelle and Yonkers to Poughkeepsie. Even though we were never meant to be able to access this, it’s cool to know it’s been built-in and works.

Riders can now catch an R211 in all five boroughs! Today, we debuted the modernized train cars on the B line, marking the first time they've run in the Bronx.

R211 trains feature wider doors, security cameras, additional accessible seating, digital displays, brighter lighting and signage, and more.

Does he need help booking flights from HPN?
Don’t threaten me with a good time.

New #LIRR trains look nice and all, but I wish we could stop using dot matrix displays and transition over to LCD screens already!
We're getting new trains!

The MTA has approved the purchase of new M-9A rail cars, which will feature glass windows, USB ports, and enhanced accessibility — including automatic bathroom doors.

The first set is expected to enter service in 2030.
