A pertinent question to ask ourselves: When did we decide that going faster is more important than everything else?
Above all else, AI is an accelerant.

That makes it really important for us to look at the world around us right now and ask: do we want to keep doing this, but faster? If not, what are the necessary interruptions?

I have no regrets about switching to Apple Music a couple of years ago, but I did miss Spotify’s fantastic music recommendations. I’m starting to feel that Apple is finally improving in this area.

And these standards also come from—typically *very* deep—discussions among people with diverse backgrounds and skill sets. If you see room for improvement or missed nuances in the system, start a discussion, and challenge its ideas. You can be part of making your team’s tools a bit better every day.

That's it, that's the day.

After years of open collaboration, the Design Tokens Community Group delivers a production-ready, interoperable format for design systems. Goodbye disjointed workflows.

#HTML is only as accessible as you write it.

Semantics determine what an element is, and browsers provide some interactive behavior for native interactive elements for free.

But just because two patterns have similar behavior doesn't make them semantically the same.

Defaults matter. Remember that people tend to internalize bad UI as their own personal failing, and that people also may not identify as disabled. Combined this means they'll feel bad using inaccessible experiences and not think to check how to fix the problem. www.theverge.com/news/802963/...

The latest Systems of Harm episode was a goldmine of insightful discussion on quality, inclusion, and politics in design systems.

Hearing @loudowne.bsky.social talking about “idealistic pragmatism”—a term I’ve used for a few years to describe my approach to systems work—put a smile on my face.
