I, like many Chicagoans my age, wanted to play 2nd as a kid, not SS. I wanted to bat second, not third or fourth. I wanted flip down sunglasses (that I wore to school). I wore my Ryno cleats to school, too. I also attempted the jumping throw from behind second at every practice at least 10 times.

My last living musical hero is still my hero but unfortunately no longer living. RIP to the great, great Mr. Tom Lehrer.

I'm a Gen X early adopter of many technologies from the Apple II in 1979, CDs in 1988, internet in 1991, DVDs, DVRs, high-speed internet, cell in 1998, Palm/Treo, iPhone in 2007, Facebook in 2006, Netflix DVDs, etc. etc. I've never been less excited about a technology than I am about AI.

Explaining to my gamer kids how the first “gaming system” I had was a TI-99 (google it), which required you to code the games first, save them on cassette tape, then connect a tape player to the computer before you could play. Sometimes it hits you how much history you’ve seen. 😂
