I refuse to shut up about this: NYC started charging $9 to bring a car into our most transit-rich zone, the haters & trolls predicted doom, but traffic evaporated instantly and here’s Times Square tonite (even after the holiday tourists have left). For a better future, build transit & price driving!

one of the reasons I love congestion pricing so much is that it provides a simple and straightforward fix to traffic, which is bad for productivity, health, and climate.

it literally fixed traffic overnight. it’s the closest thing we have to a modern miracle.

It's worth noting that the US is also one of those countries who emitted the most to date (if not the worst offender) and will probably emit more due to the load growth. The US should have more responsibility in not only reducing its own emissions but also helping developing countries decarbonize.
Since 2005, the United States has achieved the largest reduction in carbon dioxide equivalent emissions from energy and industry. However, these reductions have been offset by significant emissions increases in other countries, most notably India and China. #EnergySky

This is probably the most important story of year in the energy transition. ~600 gigawatts of new solar added to world grids today. That will produce ~1,000 terawatt-hours of clean electricity, or ~25% of all US electricity use or 2/3 of India's. In one year! Simply massive & it's accelerating. 🔌💡
Good morning with good news: The world is on track to install nearly 600 GW of solar in 2024.

To put that solar tsunami in context, the world had installed a total of 760 GW of solar by 2020.

Global solar deployment will be up 29% in 2024 over 2023. Wow!

China’s oil consumption peaked in 2023, CNPC says

China is set to add a record 260 gigawatts of solar this year.

For perspective, that’s more than the total added globally in 2022, which was a record year.

It’s nearly 6x more than the US, the second-biggest market, is set to add this year
