🥗 Just because the weather's getting cooler (and wetter) doesn't mean a lack of locally grown seasonal veggies.

👩‍🌾 We have two excellent growers in #NorthLondon who sell nature friendly food all year: Enfield Veg Co and GROW.

They operate slightly differently, find out more in the comments below 👇

Barnet is lucky enough to be getting two, yes two, new community orchards this winter 🥰

Both have various sessions to join in with the creation, planting and caring for the trees.

Disappointing to say the least.

Maybe they missed ALL THE INFO ABOUT FIXING THE FOOD SYSTEM TO FIX THE PLANET 😵
Confirmation that diet change (i.e. less meat and dairy, more beans and veg) plays no role in UK Gov's decarbonisation plan - they're opting instead for 'precision feeding', methane-suppressing supplements, and breeding programmes that aid intensification. Disappointing.

We had a very apeeling day at the Incredible Edible Barnet Apple and Pear celebration a few weeks ago.

Thanks to everyone who came, donated apples, chopped, crushed, pressed, drank, chatted, tasted, shared food memories, made mobiles, peeled apples and looked for bugs!

I don't think the media realises they don't need to tell people to eat less meat to help climate and biodiversity issues, they just need to help people eat more beans (and other veggies)!
Meat is a leading emissions source – but few outlets report on it, analysis finds
Sentient Media reveals less than 4% of climate news stories mention animal agriculture as source of carbon emissions

Absolute treat to find this little one in my garden this evening!

It was in an area that wouldn't have been easy for it to get out, so it was moved into the veg beds, where it can hopefully snack on all the visiting 🐌🐌🐌🐌

I loved sharing plants from Incredible Edible Barnet with people from across Barnet and beyond. And the food was delicious too 😋

Surely it takes at least ten to figure out what's going on and sort out some of the 1000s of issues.

It's called #Climateflation… It's pushing food prices ever higher – and changing how we eat.

Extreme heat, droughts & floods are proving disastrous for farmers on the frontline of #climatecrisis, disrupting supply chains, and intensifying inflationary pressures.
