I got so stoned at a Mets game once I compared the Jumbotron to the top screen of a Nintendo DS bc it had “a bunch of useful contextual information” and the field to the bottom screen bc “it’s where the game is actually played”

which is fine, he's good at doing research but defunctland i felt has always had an issue with brevity and getting to the point and seeing a 4 hour video from him just made me instantly balk at the time
I dunno, I just watched an hour now before bed and he’s pretty good. I just think of it as a 3-4 part miniseries where I choose when to end the episode.

LRT when i was recovering from a surgery last year i made it a point to read a bunch of classic novels during it and reading books like Catcher in the Rye and Lolita firsthand is SO much more different than seeing opinions thrown around by People Who Saw TikToks About These Books. grow up. read shit

Whenever I say this, people get Really Mad, but it's true. Same of any other art, too. You have to read the book, watch the film, see the painting, listen to the song, whatever.

"you have not played the game unless you've played the game" is one of my more annoying but unshakable opinions
the whole "don't play the game, just watch a video on youtube that will explain its story to you" is so disheartening because the issue of accessibility is genuinely really important but it's always just people who want to be spoon-fed nicely quantifiable information
