I’m sharing a Palestinian account every day and today is Mohammed. Mohammed was a lawyer prior to all of this and his wife Miran was a pharmacist. Both their businesses were destroyed. They were able to move back to their home in the North with their children Ziad, 6 and Mirna, 3 but it has no roof.

It’s hard to ask for help and as a community we need to commit to helping in life & in death.

Cancer will financially devastate you, even if you were doing ok before diagnosis. Poverty is a reality for so many survivors. You’ll have to ask for help over and over. And family and friends (the ones who don’t abandon you), who know what you went through, will still judge you. Ask me how I know.

For a long time I was puzzled by folks who make donations to orgs/charities but ignore direct support requests from folks, especially ones they know. But then I realized it’s because they don’t care about people. They care about the tax deduction, their name in a newsletter, the social currency.
