I’m but a simple country theoretical physicist, and I can say, in my professional capacity, “datacenters in space” is so colossally, monumentally stupid that it is difficult to know where to start with which laws of physics the idea is spitting in the face of the most.
“.. Skeptics believe the technical risks are being underestimated and say space-based data centers won’t be competitive on cost, especially if power and other constraints ease on the ground.”

I rechecked my following list for the first time this morning since my self-imposed exile from socials and realized I wasn't following mother-f'ing @therealgstoye.bsky.social. That was an egregious mistake I quickly corrected.

Following years of a loop of Minecraft/Smash Bros/Mario Kart (not that those are bad games, they are good), combined with whatever barely 16-bit dopamine rush game his friends like, my son finally tried a Zelda game (Tears of the Kingdom) and absolutely loves it.

I almost cried from joy.

As a small part of my mental recovery I started building Gunpla again. I knocked out a quick High Grade in a couple hours and it felt good. Not sure when I will have time to dig into a MG or RG (which I’m dying to do), but I’m appreciating the little bit of peace I get from building one.

GenAI has polluted image search results, especially for animal pics. It’s now basically impossible to find accurate art references.

Enter this: a repository of open-access, AI-free images of wild & exotic taxa. Artists creating *without AI* have blanket permission for derivative/transformative use.

In general I’ve been on a little bit of an anime/manga journey the last year to find some more joy/inspiration. Demon Slayer was my obsession all summer and Infinity Castle blew me away. I’ve got Tanjiro/Zenitsu/Tengen/Gyomei toys on my work desk right now.

I imagine so many writers/artists (myself included) wrack their brains constantly trying to spit out a groundbreaking premise or story, and then facepalm when something like “what if a dude can transform into a monster made of chainsaws” becomes a huge hit.

I’m being a little unserious (1/2)…

My mental health, after years of it not being good and cratering to a 10-year low this past fall, is finally in a decent enough place to tentatively venture back in to public social media.

Optimistic I’ll return to comics in 2026 - finishing the work that should have been complete in 2023 and (1/4)

I really miss my comic social media friends (who I haven’t talked to in years at this point), but I have literally zero desire to be on public social media anymore. It’s a tough conundrum.

I haven’t logged on in months & really don’t regret it. Between the deluge of horribly informed political takes (& getting followed by 300+ fetish porn accounts because I wrote “18+ comic writer” in my bio), Bluesky immediately felt hostile.

Won’t be back again for a long time, break still needed.

RIP Butch Guice. And very sorry to hear it. We only met glancingly at cons, but it was a real treat to collaborate with him on AQUAMAN. A big loss for comics today.

This is deeply fucked up, and it’s endorsed by the Massachusetts Teachers’ Association. They’re also getting “witch hunt”-level defensive whenever they’re called on it.

So when mass shootings of average people and school children occurs, it's all "there's nothing we can do, these things just happen" but when a CEO gets shot, we need a special hotline, new safety protocols, and to lock up housewives over frustrated phone conversations.

Got it.

It infuriates me to see these AI videos of “deep sea animals” pop up on my TikTok because the deep sea is already incredibly fucking weird, there is NO NEED to put human teeth on a freaky fish then stick weird tentacles on its butt.

We already have holothurians, acorn worms, tripod fish, ETC.

I’m many years late to the Critical Role bandwagon, but the Legend of Vox Machina on Prime is my new obsession. The first episode is a little rough, and the (sometimes literal) toilet humor is a bit out of place, but I haven’t seen an animated series this well-crafted in many years.

I recently followed a comic publisher that helps produce 18+/NSFW comics & I suddenly gained 60+ followers.

I’ve written 18+ stories, I’m sex-positive, & appreciate art from all orientations but some of the fetishes/kinks these new followers draw is um…not for me, to put it as gently as I can.

I went to my local LCS, & other than my pull list pickup of
@fellhound.bsky.social 's book, nothing's catching my eye. I'm looking for more good Indies, but all the ones I skim, either the scripting or the art fails to click with me.

I want to fall in love with comics again but it's been hard.
