Since I'm way ahead of the schedule (6 days), and I'm really enjoying TheGamedevTavern's tutorials, I'm going through the second one - arcade style soccer game. Having so much fun.

Since I'm way ahead of the schedule (6 days), and I'm really enjoying TheGamedevTavern's tutorials, I'm going through the second one - arcade style soccer game. Having so much fun.
Followed TheGamedevTavern's 20 episodes long tutorial on beat em ups and as I started plugging in my own art I realised that I want to make a full game about tiny Kaijus.
The preprod period is coming to an end. Time to evolve the concept and make something awesome.

First pass of spritesheet for both basic aliens and the Rex has been completed. Some are very obviously temp, but for now they work.

I have LG CineBeam HU70LS. Used to be a relatively high shelf consumer grade.
What I needed
-LED (no lamp switching)
-As bright as possible
-4k
-As quiet as possible
-Throw long enough to sit I wanted to put it (about 3m-ish)
There are probably better ones out there, but I'm quite happy with mine.

I have managed to capture a hummingbird hawk-moth in the garden!
I've been hunting for this one for quite some time, but it never appeared in a full sun. Until today. I didn't have my macro lens on me unfortunately, but used my main wildlife Tamron 150-600 lens as a decent approximation.

I'vee finally decided to do the big step and moved my game development to open source alternatives. At first I wanted to use FreeBSD, which I know from times long past, but it turns out that it lacked the necessary drivers. I ended up on Garuda Linux and so far it's great: everything just works.

I have days when nothing goes right, sure, but not today. Today I find that the code flows from my fingertips like my spirit and the machine's spirit are intertwined. I can feel the game shaping up second by second.

Returned to Pokemon GO recently, and while I loathe the FOMO-driven event mill that the game serves these days, it is giving me reasons to go out and walk around, which I badly needed. It's easier to do so if I want to catch mons for my kids.
So: methods? questionable. results? positive so far.

As the game is being developed, our artist, @lukaszjunczyk.bsky.social, has started working on the trailer. Here it is in full glorious temp art! Animation of pressing the elevator button is truly a masterpiece. Henceforth I shall be pressing all buttons like that. #gamedev #indiedev

Spent like an hour observing them. They were in high grass so didn't get any excellent pictures, but I had great fun watching them feed and play around.
