a good way to get better at writing is to look at what AI does and don’t do that.

facile ‘it’s not just X—it’s Y’ platitudes. absolute word-vomit prefaces like ‘here’s the kicker…’. artificial drama. fake epiphany. every fucking sentence being the same length and rhythm.

very bored of all of this.

I left Spotify after 9 years because of the CEO's autonomous weapons investment shit, but it's not really about Spotify individually at all. It's about trying to be better, and intentional, and asking yourself if you're making the world you want

Was laid up with a fcuked back for a few days this week. No fun, but once I ran out of podcasts and sudoku I resorted to taking this classic machine apart.
The mysteries of the Radio Shack reverb will finally be revealed. Blog post tomorrow.

Can't believe this is 15 years old now, but still one of the best things ever written about being a musician. "How To Make A Living Playing Music" by Danny Barnes:

I come back and read this a couple of times a year, just to check in and see how I'm doing :)

Via The Independent: Donald Trump’s false claim that London ‘wants to go to Sharia law’ has been described as ‘appalling and bigoted’ by Mayor Sadiq Khan.

The Muslim Council of Britain responded: “We pray for Mr Trump's health and wellbeing as his hallucinations seem to be getting worse by the day”

Thanks, Ben. ‘Duet’ is probably the best bit of songwriting on the album. Fun fact/clang: that’s Bernard Butler’s harmonium on the track. He loaned it to us.

Picked up a kid’s 3-string guitar yesterday and absent-mindedly played Ben and Jason’s “Duet”, which has been stuck in my head since I last listened to it a decade ago. “Ten Songs About You” is now back in rotation. Great album @jasonhazeley.bsky.social :)

Wow. I’ve spent almost 40 years wondering where all the Dizzy fans were, and they’re all right here in this thread, a sleeper cell of middle aged nerds activated at long last.
every UK video game in the 80s and 90s was made by a guy named like "lord wensleydale" or two guys named "the chippy twins" and was about an egg with no special abilities going on an adventure and dying immediately. it was ported to the super nintendo where everyone hated it
