New study in Nature finds no such thing as natural immunity to covid after the arrival of omicron. Pre omicron, infection provided 80% protection against re-infection one year later. This falls to under 5% at one year with omicron

“Infection with omicron provided an initial protection of nearly 80 percent between the first three to six months after infection, but that protection rapidly declined. Between nine months and a year, protection fell to around 27.5 percent, then dropped to a negligible 5 percent after a year.”
Protection from COVID reinfections plummeted from 80% to 5% with omicron
New study shows why annual COVID boosters are critical to controlling COVID.

Another horrifying example of neglect leading to assisted dying:

Normand Meunier (a quadriplegic) developed bedsores after being left FOUR days on ER gurney. He wasn’t turned & his pleas for a specialized mattress were ignored.

He decided he didn’t want to “be a burden”

This was a frequent conversation for our family as well, but slowly fewer people are willing to take even bare minimum precautions to see us. Many don't seem to realize that they are telling us that our lives are less important than their brunch.
Friend was traveling and wanted to visit - I declined because they don’t take Covid precautions.

They get home & tell me “omg I’m so sick - it’s a good thing we didn’t visit as this would kill you.”

I asked if they considered the other people like me they exposed on travels. 🧵 /1

I’ve been working on an article about xitter exodus and what it means for the chronic illness and disability community.

Things like:

How can we ensure no one is left behind?
How can we help people learn new apps?
How can we encourage people to make the move?

Out tomorrow (I hope) at link 👇🏼

“It’s not masking & vaccine mandates. It’s the fact that you don’t get food poisoning when you walk into a restaurant, the water coming out of your tap isn’t filled with lead, your building tiles aren’t filled with asbestos, you don’t have to deal with polio or other childhood infectious diseases.”
