Classic TMS commentary moment at the start of England's 2nd innings:

"What the batsmen need to do is to just forget the scoreboard when they go out to bat"
- "Actually, that's one of the real strengths of this England team..."

High pressure situation. Need to dig in. Crawley out chasing a wide ball needlessly for nought in the first over?

The Football World Cup draw must be a real kick in the teeth if you're from a European nation that didn't qualify.

There are countries in the Group stage where I would struggle to name a single player from that nation playing in a major world footballing league.

325-9

That'll do. 350+ would have been better.

Well done Joe Root for finally getting that century Down Under.

Slow bowling Aussies.

Cricket doing better than I feared it might be when I turned TMS on this morning.

Root and Brook well set against an older ball could be tasty.

I hate my work iPhone, closely followed by the Authenticator app.

They've had me running around in Kafkaesque circles all morning...

Just enjoying the awesome techno tunes on the #BBC6Music "Desert island disco" and trying not to dwell on them all being about 30 years old now!

So what formation are we playing tonight? BBC has it as 4-2-3-1, Google says 4-4-2. Both give a back four of centre-halves so presumably Abbott is on the right (hope he keeps an eye on the offside trap rather than tracking back all the time).

Good to see some fringe players getting a run out.

First day at the #IfSE #ASEC2025 conference, kicking off with a superb keynote from Victoria Bunyard puling together the Viable Systems Model, the law of requisite variety, the Systems Engineering Vee model, and a large dose of pragmatism when dealing with stakeholders.

This seems important to me. The current global energy transition breaks our key GDP metric.

Any economists out there care to comment?

It's supposed to be a five day game, not back-to-back Twenty20.

TMS for breakfast is very civilised. Just need to break this partnership before our bowlers inevitably start getting injured.

Hope lasts until you wake up on the first day of the Ashes and check the overnight score...

I think we've been here before.

Interesting line up for this evening's game.

Is this the last match in the league stage?

As the French Enlightenment philosopher Voltaire lay on his deathbed, a priest urged him to renounce Satan. Voltaire, characteristically, purportedly replied: 'Now is not the time for making new enemies.'

Football is a simple game when your manager isn't a total bell end.

2-0 to the famous team...

Listened to the excellent #RestIsHistory podcast episode on Enoch Powell this week. Such a promising start for someone who ultimately followed their own obsessions and tortured logic, turning into a divisive, self promoting, nasty man.

Paved the way for so much that's gone wrong since in the UK.

So the big question should be:

"What trophy should Ange Postecoglou be awarded for his efforts?"

A golden turd?
A figure of a footballer kicking the ball into their own face?
A bust of a grumpy beardy man?

I mean, he was always going on about ending up with a trophy...

Interesting to see the penny drop for Joe Wilkinson that the Faithful are firstly playing against Claudia as she picks the Traitors team.

Tried some matcha tea today. Still not sure if I would have been better off just putting a handful of grass clippings in the bottom of the mug instead.

Always a frisson of excitement when "Killing in the name of" gets played on daytime radio, just to see if they accidentally play the proper sing along version.
