112.7mph off the bat, 433 feet to Deep Left Field.

Entering tonight, Dansby Swanson had committed 2 errors in a game 4 times in his MLB career spanning 10,978.2 innings.

For the first time as a Cub, Swanson has a 2-error game in what has been an ugly night for the Cubs as they trail the Blue Jays 4-0 in the 6th.

A six-man rotation in September, you say? Could it happen in Toronto, too?
Jameson Taillon will make another rehab start with Triple-A Iowa tomorrow & then rejoin Cubs rotation.

Cubs will need 6 starters in next week with the doubleheader next Monday but they won’t go to a 6-man rotation beyond that. Counsell said that could be a consideration at some point in September.

Early 2026 AL Cy Young candidate...
btw, lots can happen between now and the off-season but it's worth noting Eric Lauer is arb eligible again for 2026, so Jays can have him on the staff next year as long as they tender him a contract via arbitration

2.80 ERA through 61 IP with Jays

Results just haven’t been there for Vladimir Guerrero Jr. this month. Alongside that, worth noting that he has been staying late to hit in the indoor batting cage after recent games, both at home and on road, as he searches for more production.

The lineup card in the Blue Jays' clubhouse reads "OP" beside George Springer rather than "DH" today, as he and manager John Schneider consider his role to be 'offensive player' – someone who runs the bases as well as hitting

John Schneider said this morning that Kirk's wrist was bothering him a little, but also that he needed a bit of a breather last night.

He's not playing today because #Bluejays want him playing the next four games. He's very available off the bench today.
Is Kirky hurt? There was that whole unexplained visit from the trainer yesterday...

Day off for Clement, so Barger moves back to the infield. Clase over Lukes in CF is a bit of a surprise.

The Blue Jays have played 46 games and 23 of them have been decided by two runs or fewer. The Jays are 13-10 in those games, 22-24 overall.

Barger's game is so tantalizing, but he might be a poor man's Matt Chapman...
Addison Barger has an absolute cannon and he just used it to skip a ball across the diamond, from deep behind third base, to get Jose Ramirez and his bad ankle to end the inning.

Halfway home, #Bluejays are down 4-3.
