Why can't the Paperwork Reduction Act be used to remove unnecessary questions like "birth sex" from things like passport applications?

I'll topline, write lyrics, or sing on your stuff. Darkwave, industrial, goth rock, new wave, anything I can figure out the rules for.

Yes, even your garage bandcamp thing that you think is all instrumental.

I promote my music here (oh DO you?) but when I hear that someone else has actually heard it it's mildly upsetting. If a DJ plays it (please do), I feel certain everyone that heard it used that time to go to the loo or pronounced it the most mediocre dreck they have ever had the misfortune to hear.

I really like the Lewitt LCT 440 Pure on my voice. There's a heaviness that creeps in with other mics I own that it doesn't have. It gives me a smooth canvas for EQ.

Still love my AT2035, but it's back in its box.

Waking up to nearly all green bars in my Bandcamp.

(It means someone listened to the whole song without skipping.) Even I don't listen to my songs without skipping.

Thanks to my attentive listener. I hope you liked it.

(Bandcamp stats are worse for mental health than Blue Sky on a Monday).

I love warming up by singing Carpenters songs, because of course, I have to set the bar unattainably high for myself - Karen Carpenter was so amazing.

It's generally in a low alto, and while it's an easy range for me, it's actually a difficult range to sound feminine in. It's a fun challenge.

If I get 3 more followers at hyperestis.bandcamp.com then that's my first 100 on the platform. That might not seem like a lot, but the amount of money I've put into marketing my Bandcamp in particular is fairly small and mostly in person or now, bsky, my only social. I appreciate you all.

Opcode Vision was so great to use. It was sort of object oriented in that your songs could have sequences and subsequences, and you could queue them in any order and play over them.

DAWs today have arrangements or scenes but there was something about Vision on a Mac SE that was pure synthpop.

Gabi Logic:
The reason I only have two followers on Tidal is I don't have a Lewitt LCT-440 microphone. It's a lack of smoothness in the 6-10k range that is keeping listeners from fully committing. Maybe that shit flies on Spotify, but the Tidal audience demands more of me. Guess I'd better buy it.

Things No One Cares About #284729

All 3 of the Hyperestis albums have only the letters A, D, I, O and V in the titles. It ties them all together, and is very silly, but once I started I couldn't stop.

The next album will have a normal name.

I think.

Probably.

Weirdly I think my depressing music is almost too perky to be darkwave or goth. "New Wave" is practically meaningless and is in any case not new. I have too many guitars for it to just be "synth pop" or "electronic" but not enough to be "indie rock".

It's so stupid.
November 18, 2025 at 1:15 AM
There are mixing and mastering tools you can get for your DAW that do analysis or even act on that analysis using the same levers and buttons and dials you'd use yourself. Fine, whatever, that can help.

AI mastering is weird though - it's not your song. It's an AI song that sounds like your song.

The first song on my new album is "Just Go," so that must be the one I want you to hear first. The fact is, I wrote all the titles first and made myself write lyrics for them, and all but one are in the same order. Anyway, here's Repertoire...

My favorite song from "A Void" is Strange Lullaby, it's so personal, but Never Understand was the first thing I did, with different words at first. @rodneyorpheus.bsky.social mixed A Void and did his best to polish it, but I like the naive unevenness too.

The first thing I did musically after arriving in Portland from Austin was cover Vexagon's song "(Would You) Want To". It's always moved me and the cover was one of those fangirl things I do. The original is better but I tried hard to impress Briar :).

My song "Safe House" was written to amuse a friend, and is all mostly sapphic James Bond wordplay. Spy vs. Spy with kissing. It's not much like the rest of the album but still fits. Violet Wanda also did a fun remix.

It's the 1st song on my 2nd EP, O Diva.

But Gabi, what's the point of going to listen to your music if I don't have money to buy it and everything else I like?

Good news! I just want people to hear it. Why would anyone buy it if no one has heard it? On Bandcamp or Ampwall you can listen quite a lot before it will complain.

(thanks!)

A layer of my music is I'm a transgender woman. My music isn't about that, though I'm sure it's informed by it. My voice is the result of a lot of coaching. Some people like it. My voice teacher calls me a mezzo-soprano. I'll take it.
November 13, 2025 at 11:45 PM
I've been playing in bands since I was 16 (ca 1988), doing synth-pop, punk, gothic rock, psychobilly, rock, experimental and industrial. You've never heard of any of them unless you were there. My newer stuff is nominally darkwave, but doesn't quite snap into place as I'd intended. Good, bad, idk?
November 13, 2025 at 11:36 PM
My music is sort of like Depeche Mode meets Clan of Xymox meets Bronski Beat wishing it was Ladytron, Tempers, Linea Aspera, Lebanon Hanover, Boy Harsher, Minuit Machine.

If that helps. You can listen to it or buy it on Bandcamp and now Ampwall. All but the newest album are streaming as well.
