If Roy Lichtenstein wasn't a plagiarist, point to one painting of note that he did without tracing someone else's work?
It would be one thing if Lichtenstein had ever acknowledged his sources, but he didn't.

This essay is well worth a read. It neatly addresses the aesthetic argument advanced by the Sad Puppies – which is a difficult task because the Puppies themselves struggled to explain it.
