We could’ve shut NASA down after Apollo 11 if it were purely about competition and only ever offered aid through Belt and Road-type debt encumbrances. But sometimes we do science Because We Can and help others Because We Should and that’s the true American Exceptionalism this regime despises.

Day 24 of Emmanuel Garcia being in federal custody.

He’s a 15 year old autistic boy who went missing 4 weeks ago. Houston PD found him, contacted ICE & his Mom is fighting to get him back

She’s not allowed to visit him.

They’re keeping a disabled kid from his family & the media is largely silent

Josh Okogie has been a huge upgrade over Cam Whitmore in terms of fit for role. Saying this as a big Cam fan.

Giving up 115 at home to Detroit. This defensive regression for the #Rockets could make for a very frustrating season.

Yea I loved the Jumbo lineup but with Reed’s play I don’t think they have a choice?
It was weird and then I saw Reed Sheppard and uh yeah. Aaron Holiday? Anything else?

The Rockets didn't play well and looked like they barely knew each other and lost in double OT by 1.

My immediate post game take. Last years Jags would have been done after the rain delay. Was able to overcome self inflicted penalties.

I saw hope of a better team today.

Offense: C+
Defense: A
Special Teams: C-

OPOG: ETN
DPOG: Foye

Hunter Biden has a point. And a quite colorful one.

Cold take. Also menu price inflation has been worse at these places and they now compete (unsuccessfully) with superior quality burgers like Shake shack, Five guys
Unironically we need more fights about generic food like yesterday’s cola situation which is why I’m going to start one right now:

Whataburger is Texas In-N-Out (a regional fav that has broken containment but is actually mids, and not even the loud kind of mids)

I think people have yet to wake up to just how amazing e-bikes are. I commute about 20 miles a day, using about 10 cents of electricity. (Mostly on safe trails.)
Every time I ride my brain is ecstatic. I get a workout, but don’t need to shower when I get to work.

In areas hit by Texas floods, officials were sent over $5 million in federal ARPA funds in 2021.

They didn't want to spend it on flood warning systems due to their disdain for Biden - and didn't send it BACK because it might go to a blue state, and "values that we in Kerr county don't agree with."

The Jabari Smith Jr. contract might have been an inflection point in the NBA. It felt like the first contract where it was just too much money to pass on, even if it could end up a great deal for the Rockets.

Wrote about how much money is sloshing around the NBA www.nytimes.com/athletic/646...
What Jabari Smith Jr.’s extension tells us about the state of NBA player salaries
The NBA will have 16 players earn at least $50 million during the 2025-26 season while the NFL, MLB and NHL will have just six between them.

The all-in trade for the Rockets that most interests me is Jalen + salary filler and picks for Jaylen Brown. He fits this team so well.
