I stand with the union workers of Half Price Books who’ve been trying to negotiate a contract for a year and a half now. Come one, CEO Sharon Anderson, pay your workers a living wage!

I just want to shout out the Minnesotan union of Half Price Book store. They are currently bargaining for a raise in wages. HPB stores is only willing to give them %1 annual raise and that is effing ridiculous when the price of living is so high. tcbmag.com/half-price-b...

Booksellers from the Minnesota Half Price Books locations recently unionized and they need more support. Recent negotiations had the company propose a 1% wage increase (equaling a ridiculous $0.15/hr) — let their CEO know this is unacceptable!

Independent bookselling is skilled work and the whole book ecosystem suffers when experienced workers have to leave the field to find a living wage. Booksellers deserve fair pay and Half Price can afford to give it.

As a former bookseller, I can tell you that most of them are ridiculously underpaid. For people that do so much to support literacy, build community, and support authors, they don’t get what they’re worth. Everybody deserves to make a living wage. I support @hpbunionmn.bsky.social
