I love that former NYT public editor @sulliview.bsky.social is public-editing from the outside.

If you need any more evidence for why he can't be mayor. ffs!
WABC asked the mayoral candidates "Mets or Yankees?" Zohran Mamdani said "Mets", adding "I must admit I'm a bit of a fair-weather fan." Andrew Cuomo said "both."

Trump needs to understand that Harvard has 400 years of experience ignoring the demands of people who will be gone in four years.
Trump threatens to block all 10,000 international students from attending Harvard unless the school turns over student info they’ll use for new visa revocations and deportations.

Every day feels like a fresh round of this country stabbing itself in the face.

Trump Threatens to Block International Students Unless Harvard Shares Student Data
The demand from the Department of Homeland Security is an escalation in President Trump’s fight against Harvard, the country’s oldest and richest university.

Only two signers in the top 50 ranked by US News & World Reports - Georgetown and Rutgers. That is, no other major grant-funded research universities, so those two really stand out as brave. Georgetown maybe is living up to their Catholic heritage - they also resisted pressure on their law school.

Brief from the Presidents’ Alliance on Higher Education and more than 80 universities says arrests and deportations of student protesters create a “climate of fear” at universities across the country. This is a big deal—the first time universities have weighed in. knightcolumbia.org/documents/eh...

A little while ago, my parents' cat Bridget went missing. As the weeks dragged on, they became extremely worried. My dad devised a way to distract himself: he began to paint Bridget's adventures, imagining her travelling through time and popping up in some of art and music's most iconic scenes.

For those folks who have been waiting to climb the pole and ring the “constitutional crisis” bell, it would appear we have arrived. Neither Judge Sorokin nor Judge Boasberg believed that he was signing a meaningless order, and both judges demanded compliance that never came.
We’ve Officially Entered the Next Phase of Trump’s Dictatorship Era
Taken together, these actions and declarations amount to a significant escalation in Trump’s transformation of his own presidency into an autocracy.

The Constitution is clear: the President can't arrest people he disagrees with.

By detaining Mahmoud Khalil — a legal permanent resident whose American wife is 8-months pregnant — Donald Trump seeks to undermine basic freedoms.

We must oppose this move toward authoritarianism.

From NYT obit for Silvia Pinal: "She was the product of a romance between her 15-year-old mother, María Luisa Hidalgo Aguilar, who worked in a restaurant, and the orchestra director Moisés Pasquel, who was already married at the time." Romance? Seriously?? Do better, NYT.
