A little dispirited by the number of Europeans at the Brussels Ass Book Fair telling me how easily I could support Pink Mince with arts funding if I lived here. NOT IN G.O.P. AMERICA, BABY.

Bijou Fonts for gay-coded jokes? Perfection.
There’s a promo trailer for “Eternity”, a new A24 film, that spotlights some material using Ringold Clarendon! I’ve had a lot of bromances, too.(I love when Ringold gets used in thematically appropriate ways. 🌈)

I’ve been plugging away for years at my little zines and fonts and such, because I would honestly go nuts if I didn’t have creative outlets, but as the years go by I also feel strongly that telling queer stories and making queer art — even nerdy stuff like mine — is radical and important and real.

I can’t be there, but if you can you should go and support everyone doing their thing!

I’m rewatching “Coming Out Under Fire” and feeling rage as I sit with the ongoing feeling of dread as I watch so much progress toward social justice steadily rolled back these days. youtu.be/IM8Ox-4RMhw?...

Come and see Pink Mince and me in Brussels this Thanksgiving 🦃
I’m EXTREMELY delighted to have scored a last minute spot for Pink Mince at the Brussels Ass Book Fair this November! No turkey me this year, but I’d much rather give thanks for sharing Pink Mince with a whole new crowd, anyway. brusselsassbookfair.be pinkmince.com

Adam here is having a little more fun with its type, but the rough spacing is making me wonder if these are locally hacked versions made for dealing with Polish. Makes me wonder about the dynamics of the Eastern European font scene at the time.
In its issue 2 we encounter “Notes from the Gulag,” an account of life in a prison for “delinquent” youths in the USSR, purportedly sent by “Igor” and accompanied by photographs supposed to be of “Igor himself.”

João’s whole thread is fascinating, but its intersection with my Hot Type project is also notable. There was not yet such a wide range of decent digital fonts for the Cyrillic script, and it’s interesting to see what they did with a basic palette.
First published in 1990, the increasingly sexually explicit Polish magazine Inaczej (“Otherwise”) published a special issue in Russian in 1994, intended to fight homophobia and educate on homosexuality, AIDS and safer sex, etc “in all countries of the former USSR.”
