In these times, I thought that it might be a good idea to share a photo of a very good boy, Semper Fi.

Just now at my Tulsa Walmart Neighborhood Market there were people speaking Spanish, and the customer service employee who helped me with a return was a transgender woman with the cutest unicorn tattoo. And everyone seemed totally ok with it. In Oklahoma. It's fine, people!

I miss being with everyone in Brazil at #AoIR2025, but remote participation removes the stress of trying to decide which panel to attend! The answer is always the one set up for remote participation. So far, those panels have been excellent. Great work, @aoir.bsky.social and local committee!

Using this opportunity to shout out the fantastic work of @wsuares.bsky.social at FOX25 in OKC. I'm in Tulsa, and her reporting has been crucial. Also remember outside the largest markets local FOX affiliates AREN'T owned by FOXNews. That includes Tulsa's excellent FOX23. Support local journalism!
When we agreed to let Walters use our studio for his interview with FOX national, we made clear we were going to talk to him afterward. Instead he avoided my questions. (Video coming) In the meantime, his new position is posted online.

If you see headlines claiming NASA's found life on Mars - these are new studies of features in rocks which, if they were on Earth, look like the kind of thing caused by microorganisms. But they could very well - are most probably in fact - be caused by chemistry, not biology.

Aliassime d. Zverev 4-6 7-6 6-4 6-4

Felix is into the Round of 16 at the U.S. Open for the first time since 2021.

He was 2-6 against Sascha coming into this match, and hadn't beaten him since 2022.

✅9th Slam R16
✅20th career top 10 win

What a performance

One of the only things I miss about Twitter is Tennis Twitter, but reading comments this morning after watching last night's match gives me hope for #TennisSky. #USOpen
one of my favorite days every grand slam: the day Zverev goes out

I just saw the back cover text for my forthcoming book, and I have to say that @nancybaym.bsky.social @kylzjarrett.bsky.social & @alicetiara.bsky.social, you are the absolute best. I love you! I will miss seeing all of you in Rio this fall (if all of you are going to @aoir.bsky.social, that is).

I can't go back to the other place, but I do miss Tennis Twitter. I just tuned in to the Cincinnati Open match between Norrie & Bautista Agut and searched Bluesky to find out what's going on with Norrie. Cramping, I assume? The latest post is from 3 days ago. C'mon, #TennisSky! Help.

Being old means getting to live through so many satanic panics, each one more delightful than the last.
The “satanic panic” is back and even dumber than before.

Is it possible that I work in public education (tho the higher kind) in the state in question? Might I kind of, sort of have a bit of a vested interest in this story? I don't post political content, but this is really a personal interest story, right? nondoc.com/2025/07/25/b...

Imagine it's me in this SNL sketch not BÖC and Christopher Walken is a voice in my head as I was writing my book. And instead of saying "More cowbell" that voice was saying "More commas." Then you will understand the experience I'm having reading page proofs and trying to figure out what went wrong.

People keep following me, but I'm really mostly a lurker here. I mean, yesterday I watched the thriller "Berlin Syndrome" and was mildly triggered by an early shot of the U-Bahn, where I lost my coat in 2016 while riding with @miac.bsky.social
& @mavery.bsky.social. Is this the content people want?

This is heartbreaking to watch. Sinner being such a good guy.
No words. Dimitrov retires. Has to use his left hand to put his right arm up to shake the umpire’s hand. This is horrendous. Sinner packing Grigor’s bag and wants to carry it but an official does it. Dimitrov in tears as he leaves the court. Pro sport sometimes is just hell, really.

hollykruse.com is back. There's nothing there yet except for links to my books on publisher webpages: @mitpress.bsky.social, @politybooks.bsky.social (sort of) & Peter Lang.

There's nothing about my dogs or horse(s), which is a sure sign that this website is totally a work in progress 🚧.

Oh, and also "key people in relevant interest groups, think tanks, or activist networks."
I'm filling out author promotion form for my Gender & Tech book (ocean.exacteditions.com/issues/12086...) & am stymied by questions in the "(Non-Academic) Media & Publicity" asking for info on my contacts in the media and info on specialist media outlets. Ideas? Help! Tagged people in 1st comment.

Humbly, as one of the few scholars of such tubez, I'm up to talk about this and also never talk to CNN Business about the the hyperloop ever again.
getting to use an interoffice pneumatic tube system would fix me

If you're tagged in the comments, you may be contacted with a request to blurb this book, thanks to the monster list I provided, and for that I'm sorry. I think? Remember that "no" is a complete sentence. But you're all so awesome that I had to include you.
