I got the best undergrad education double majoring in poli sci & history while living at home & going to the U of Iowa, and to the U of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign's pioneering program in media studies for my PhD. Top land grant universities. Such crucial resources.

Or my actual high school (it is weird that there's a movie that's a true story from my high school).

Because not many movies are set in my hometown.

This is my hot, controversial take. Embrace others. Love thy neighbor. Accept change. Etc. because all of that is happening, even if you wouldn't know it from the very media that I study.

Aw, thanks! You are too, too kind, truly. ❤️

You are very, very kind, and without you, I would have never written it. I can't wait for it to finally come out after all these years. I appreciate @marysavigar.bsky.social and @politybooks.bsky.social so much for their patience!

Anyway, when I tuned in it looked like Norrie had a hernia, which I – both a doctor (PhD) and former veterinary technician – knew couldn't be the case. It's about to be over, so I guess we'll find out on the ATP site or somewhere. Or the main Sunday TennisTV feed. #TennisSky

I have greater hopes for something like Tennis Twitter here than I do for something like Horse Racing Twitter, which provided me with copyright-free photos for my horse racing and networked tech book. That was a real community (within the larger world of Horse Racing Twitter).

Check your email for the Spigel chapter, and thanks!

Try Lynn Spigel on early TV, especially 1990's "Television in the Family Circle" book chapter (I can send a pdf); her 1992 book Make Room for TV; and maybe her 2001 book Welcome to the Dreamhouse. My forthcoming book on gender and tech discusses it & comes out in Dec in the UK, if that helps?
