For those that didn't know, we run a public archive of pre-release content for various games via archive.thedatadungeon.com which may be of interest to some! We also have an archive of technical documentation we're gradually building via library.thedatadungeon.com

Was playing Ghosthunter yesterday. This is the funniest glitch I've seen in a while. Wish I'd had my microphone on.

We've added a collection of Max Payne marketing CDs to the site, thanks to a user named Dr. Proton for donating them.

We were working on a SNES 'Taz' game at Software Creations in about 1993/4 and all that remains of the game are these three Taz sprite frames. That may change if I uncover any other artwork. I believe these were drawn/animated by Andy Wilson ( RIP ). Andy is at the front in the photo.

Implemented some rather simple depth of field yesterday.

It's a little dumb, but I sometimes dislike playing games on PC (esp. recently) because my stupid ass brain will get caught up fiddling with the graphics settings every second trying to aim for a perfect balance between visuals and performance; but I want all the sparkly turned on.

Kinda wondering if I've burnt myself out. Motivation was kinda at a low most of this year already, but yesterday something's just clicked in my head and I'm just sort of, dead inside.

Couldn't help myself from setting the Crash Bandicoot "Woah" sound as the notification sound on my phone. Nothing has ever been more perfect.

Did a bit more work on the compass.

Setting properties was working for scene nodes, but not for entities as they're a special case in the engine. As of today, it now works for entities, and there's now automatic write/read for properties you set up with some basic validation.

Apologies for ugly UI, it's pending a rewrite 🙃

Ah yes... Up.

Not sure why I didn't post about it earlier, but late last month I added a gradient sky effect for the game. The one that's actually in use isn't as trippy as this, it's just for demonstration purposes. Well, unless you want to make a level that way I guess.

Rather interesting that the American McGee's Alice port on console now seems to be available for Madness Returns without requiring a code? It's a pretty interesting port, though seems to perform terribly on the PS3. Curious if it performs any better on 360.

It's now possible to merge brushes in the engine into a single object, export it and then import it into other rooms.

You can technically child the brushes to a parent node and export that but it felt a little messy rather than just doing it as one object.

Today I've published a rather extensive look at Haven: Call of the King, for the PlayStation 2. Not quite as extensive as I was hoping but probably long enough I'm rather doubtful many are going to manage reading the entire thing.

Haven: Call of the King, or simply Haven, as I’ll refer to it, is a game developed by the British video-game development studio, Traveller’s Tales. It’s quite technically impressive, and certainly amb...

Gradually making progress on a compass. This'll be a lot less obnoxious when I'm done.

Well that was a pain, but my engine now supports variable pitch fonts correctly.

There are some really weird accounts on GitHub that just seem to follow and unfollow over and over? I wish GitHub had a block feature.

I don't know if I'm just not interesting enough for people to want to chat with or what, but whenever I try my best to reach out to people, it's always just a one-sided conversation, and they never make any effort to reach out in return.

Hi @ledbydonkeys.org, love your activism work. I've emailed and messaged you guys about it over and over, but why are you still actively contributing to Elon's Twitter and Zuck's Threads? Your Bluesky account almost has more followers than Threads, and yet you've stopped updating it.
