One uber-rich guy raises the average of the entire county by over four times?! Jesus. That means if Skamania had ~12k people and an average of 100k aside from this guy, he had an AGI of over… 3.6 billion!?

I’ve not taken Vancouver buses but that looks pretty slick. Basically just want a well-funded and well-maintained transit system, BRT or LRT 🫠
But if we’re dreaming big, I want to see lots of separated bike/ped paths, trams on green track, an actual metro, and HSR up and down the coast.

Wilson does seem to lean into the buzzwords without backing them so far… but I do agree with the concepts, at least. +1 for removing car lanes and protecting bike lanes, for sure.

“BRT” can and often does end up being just as costly as rail, with far fewer pphpd and with greater maintenance costs. The vision is something like Paris, with high-speed intercity rail and a robust tram system that mostly negates the need for cars inside the city. That’s what I took away, at least.

Been thinking about this a lot since OATS!

We have some levers to pull, like the STIF, but it requires people at all levels to share this kind of vision to act on those possibilities, no?

I also offered an amendment to add $1.5 million for the James Beard Market to ensure that it opens on schedule next spring. That will catalyze our downtown recovery, which will give our city a much-needed economic boost and supports general fund revenue. Plus, I want to eat there!

It’s so very cool to have leadership that actually thinks this in the US right now.
