Wow, hello new followers! If you don't know me from elsewhere, I tend to post about this stuff:

- Games, often old ones
- Retro Gamer
- Sonic the Hedgehog
- Wrestling, usually AEW
- Heavy music
- Anime, often old ones
- Funny little anecdotes
- A little politics (sorry, I do try to keep it minimal)
"Those names being discussed by Labour MPs as potential candidates to displace Sir Keir include some of his closest cabinet allies, especially Wes Streeting, the health secretary, and Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood."

Streeting?! Labour MPs could see someone drowning and conclude they need water.
Prime Minister will fight any attempt to replace him, friends say
Allies of the prime minister are worried his job might be under immediate threat.

It's apparently Singles' Day, so I wrote a blog post about being single. Don't worry - it's no pity party, and it includes the phrase "self-insert erotic murder fiction" so it has that going for it.

Look, Crank 2 was promoted with the line “He was dead… but he got better” and that was perfectly okay. So, y’know, just get on with it.
James Bond’s death in No Time to Die is causing a nightmare for the next film. Writers are stuck because Bond “was blown to pieces.”

Anthony Horowitz, author of three 007 novels, says:

“You can't have him wake up in shower and saying it was all a dream."

I don’t even need people to tell me which fictional character I remind them of, I’m pretty sure it’s just the video shop guy from Cowboy Bebop.

Ah, it's always fun when games keep the player character in the centre of the screen, making it really awkward to print a screenshot nice and big across a spread. At least I can still make a respectable-looking link number appear.

Huh, it’s been a year since I last posted on the other site. Gotta say, for all the flaws this one has, I’m still happier for making the switch.

Back in 1995, Sega ran a competition with Weetabix to promote Ristar. What gets me about it is how much hardware Sega gave away - 250 Mega Drive II and 32X sets and 4,000 Mega Drive II consoles, all with copies of Ristar. I can scarcely remember so many consoles being offered in one competition.

Not to make anyone feel old, but the episode of 30 Rock containing "How do you do, fellow kids?" first aired on 16th February 2012. It's had a long life, but it's from the same era as Gangnam Style and One Pound Fish.
I made a “how do you do, fellow kids?” joke to someone in their mid 20s who, it turns out, was too young to have heard of that meme.

So “how do you do, fellow kids?” is now an example of “how do you do, fellow kids?”

Hah, there’s no cure for feeling like crap like a session on Bluesky, where you can read posts that make you feel even worse.

Wait, hang on a min-*silenced*

Hey, it’s random game Saturday!

This is Screw Breaker, better known as Drill Dozer in English-speaking regions. I bought Game Freak’s charming platformer in 2007 when exchange rates were favourable, so it cost me just £7.67 brand new. I always liked the addition of a rumble motor in the cartridge.

I'm not always sure what our friends in Germany will put on the cover of the local version of Retro Gamer, but I think I'd have died of shock if the Amiga 40th anniversary feature @grahampembrey.bsky.social wrote hadn't been picked.

Congratulations are in order! Pretty sure Darran is the longest-serving editor of any UK games mag, which is some going.
Today is officially my 20th year on @retrogamermag.bsky.social
It’s been an amazing, wild ride and I don’t want it to stop.

Four episodes in, and Twisted Metal is keeping the attention of my family who have basically zero knowledge of the games.

I was at NQ64 the other day. I’d have mentioned it before but I’ve been kind of out of it this week. Best bit: seeing a friend I’ve not seen in years. Second best bit: fondling a washing machine (playing Maimai).

Yeah, I'm not doing great - I think I was asleep for about 15-16 hours yesterday, all told.

Despite my earlier moans, I had a good time tonight! Now to go sleep until I have another social occasion (which is, erm, Thursday morning)

Don’t mind complying with a no photos/videos rule at a show, but if that’s the policy, put it in the ticket info, put up signs in the venue or announce it at the start of the show. It shouldn’t be left to the stewards to communicate that to individuals one by one, mid-show.
November 4, 2025 at 8:50 PM
If you are at a show and sitting in a seat that requires the entire row stand up every time you go to buy a drink, you should be legally required to buy a minimum of two at a time unless it is your final drink of the night.

Sometimes I wish all those jokes about me being a robot were true, because it sure can suck to be a malfunctioning machine of meat and bone. (This sounds serious, but I’m just somewhat run down and really trying to push through it to enjoy Till Lindemann and Aesthetic Perfection tonight.)
