Some days you feel tired of hearing
About “plans”
Some days you feel sad.
Then you remember: Ukraine is still alive, still resisting, still surprising the world.

This summary reveals a horrible plan for Ukraine. Russia would get almost everything it wants and Ukraine would be left more vulnerable to a future invasion.
“Donald Trump’s latest plan for ending the war in Ukraine would see territory ceded to Russia, Russia readmitted to the G8 and Ukraine banned from joining Nato, according to drafts of the proposal seen by Axios, AFP and the Associated Press”

Volodymyr Zelenskyy says he expects to discuss the plan – which was reportedly drafted by Russian and US officials – with Trump

Thinking a lot lately about the simple fact that college allows people to spend about 15 weeks immersed in a disciplinary conversation with an expert in that field. And what a special thing that is.

This does make sense of a lot of our politics.
things become easier to understand once the realization sinks in that many powerful or influential people are - very literally - con artists, fraudsters, and criminals

The news here is mixed, but a least there is some pretty good news as part of the mix: China’s carbon emissions have hit a plateau (at least for now).

Analysis: China’s CO2 emissions have now been flat or falling for 18 months - Carbon Brief
China’s carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions were unchanged from a year earlier in the third quarter of 2025, extending a flat or falling trend that started in March 2024.

Both equally plausible.

Meantime, socialism with Chinese characteristics has come run so far ahead of the West on solar that venture capital firms are ignoring western solar companies. Talk about energy dominance.
Capitalism is so fun cause we invent renewable energy and then for some reason (capitalism again) electricity is getting more expensive AND we aren’t really turning off that much fossil fuel combustion. Fantastic stuff

Yes, I'd like to pray in peace. My small church (with the gay pride flag out front) has security concerns. We've put in bullet resistant glass. The outer doors are locked after worship begins. Someone remains in the narthex to open for latecomers. At times that is me, 1st line of defense.
I want to be able to worship without worrying that someone could walk in with a rifle and start shooting.

The shooter is dead - how are you going to prosecute him?
Leavitt on Michigan shooting: "As the president rightfully put in his Truth Social yesterday, this appears to be yet another targeted attack on Christians. And the Trump administration is fully committed to not only investigating these crimes but prosecuting them to the fullest extent of the law."
