Arlie Russell Hochschild’s uses the term Stolen Pride to explain Appalachian enthusiasm for MAGA. The people she talked to knew DT’s policies might hurt but support him because he is giving them back their pride. Not sure how that works, but that is the analysis.

Went to D. C. for peak cherry blossoms and had the place pretty much to myself (okay, just kidding). Found some folks at Jefferson memorial doing the right thing.
