Since everyone’s finding old and new friends, take a moment to read my story, I’m a 32yo polio survivor because I was not vaccinated. Pass on my story, repeat it, tell it to any vaccine hesitate parent. No kid deserves vaccine preventable diseases

I’m a Polio Survivor. I Don’t Want You to Get It.
Polio is once again a public health threat in the United States. Grace is disappointed, though not surprised.

So frustrating how naturopaths constantly give patients unneeded IV vitamins to “bypass their gut and get vitamins straight into the bloodstream”…

…while most MDs routinely advise people to eat healthy food for nutrition…

…& the naturopaths are the ones who claim to be ‘natural’. 🤨

Vaccines are very safe & effective…

…what’s not very safe (& far too ‘effective’) is polio.

One of my favorite things about vaccines is that they make me harder to kill

As a family MD for nearly 15 years, I’ve given thousands of vaccines to children, the vast majority of whom I see in long term follow up…

…& I have yet to encounter a severe reaction to a vaccine in one of them. Ever.

That’s how safe they are. 👍#VaccinesWork

Anti-vaxxers: “Why won’t you debate about vaccines!!!?! 😩”

Scientists: “Yeah. We *did* debate about vaccines. Repeatedly. In depth. At scientific conferences. In the literature. Everywhere these debates constructively lead to the advancement of our scientific understanding”. 🤨

It’s amazing how all the doctors who said not to mix politics and medicine are suddenly getting mentioned as political appointees.

What a strange coincidence.

This is one reason why it drives me up a wall to see news outlets like @npr.org and @nytimes.com referring to RFK Jr. as a “vaccine skeptic.” He’s nothing of the sort. He’s been an antivax activist since *at least* 2005.
Yep.

RFK Jr. says he isn’t an anti-vaxxer. He’s wrong www.statnews.com/2024/11/18/r...

"If someone consistently opposes vaccination, promotes vaccine misinformation, and works to dismantle vaccine programs, then the label 'anti-vaxxer' fits..."

RFK Jr. is not just an anti-vaxxer. His X account is one of the most prolific spreaders of anti-vaccine misinformation.

A common refrain I hear is:
The current children vaccine schedule has “too many vaccines, given too soon.”

The truth: current schedule, despite more vaccines, has a MUCH LOWER “immune burden” than previously.

In 1980: 3041 targets
In 2000: ~125 targets

I'm dreading four years dedicated to the destruction of science-based health policy and medicine by RFK Jr. www.respectfulinsolence.com/2024/11/15/r...
RFK Jr. as HHS Secretary will be a catastrophe for public health and medical research
President-Elect Donald Trump has nominated antivax activist and conspiracy theoristRFK Jr. to be HHS Secretary. Health science and public health are so screwed.
