Writing, reading, rock & roll, and all manner of nerdy things.
Take your broken heart, make it into art.
I randomly decided on Thursday night that this would be the weekend I was going to watch “The Pitt”’and it was a good decision.

I have a working DVD player again, so ditching some of my streaming services will be much, much easier.

Did an extra long session two of the Great Apartment Purge of 2025 since Sarah and I are going to make a donation stop on the way to run some errands tomorrow. In total, I filled three big Ikea bags, two smaller bags, and a space heater that is absolutely usable, but I don't need.

Watching the live broadcast of “Good Night and Good Luck” and if you’re going to show a live stage play, SHOW THE WHOLE DAMN STAGE.

Started reading “The Murderbot Diaries” and despite the fact that the construct is (I think) meant to be agender and knowing A.Skars is in the show, its voice in my head is Charlize Theron.

I did it, so you don’t have to. “I wore Kim Kardashian’s £68 nipple bra for a week – it's inexcusably stupid. It is the single most ridiculous item of clothing I have ever owned, and I lived through shell suits.”

My Mediterranean meal prep culinary experiment has been successful, including the homemade roasted red pepper sauce!

There are few things more satisfying than carefully cracking open the cover of new book.

For me, dry January doesn’t refer to not drinking, but to my skin which sucks up any and all moisture as if it was July in Death Valley.

Just call me Lady Cassandra.

I would like it to be known that for the first time in family memory, I beat everyone at Monopoly today. I also won a round of no mercy Uno last night.

I don’t know what ground crew fuckery is happening at O’Hare right now. 1st delay: parked a plane at the gate and had no one to come get it for 45 minutes. We boarded and despite being RIGHT NEXT to where there were filling the de-icing trucks, we were ignored for 2.5 hours. Still at the gate, BTW.

I just watched a video where a woman added RAISINS to macaroni and cheese and then yelled “Jail! Jail for a thousand years!”

Flying “overnight” back to Chicago from the west coast is so strange because everyone I know is asleep while I’m in the air.

I went to see “Wicked” today and thankfully I had plenty of tissues. It was such a beautiful expansion of the stage show. And shout out to my sister (who had no idea what she was getting into) for letting me clutch her hand for the last 20 minutes while I had feelings. 💚🩷

Leaving a hotel bar in the Meatpacking District, we got in an elevator. It stopped on the next floor down and Mickey Rourke got in. Instead of turning to face the door, he stayed facing me for the whole ride down. When it stopped, he stepped out backward and walked away.

20. What is your most mundane celebrity encounter?

I once saw Eve Myles browsing the CD racks in HMV. There is literally no more to that story.

Tomorrow night, I’m putting up a Christmas tree. I know it’s a little early and I’ll be gone for the actual holiday, but I needed some joy and sparkle, especially now. This is the first time I’m going to have a full size tree in 13 years!

Because I know that work is going to be a lot this week, I thought meal prepping would be a good idea so I don’t have to make choices when my brain is tired. But my prepping skills are rusty and turns out cooking for 5 days is tiring.
