Another discussion on UK-EU relations and pan-Europeanism ends in a block. I can't leave my 6 years in Ukraine and additional 8 years in Central Eastern Europe at the door, and sit there and be painted as a Brexiteer.
More than 10 years since I tweeted this, and we're here again...

There's a really fantastic piece to be written on the way that social media makes some people believe they are in a customer service relationship with the people they are talking to online.
I want to make something very clear to everyone: I do not work for you. You don't sign my paychecks and the expectation that I do is frankly insane. Go away.

It looks like they're serious about doing this. The thing is, Finland is almost an island anyway as regards European rail. I don't really see why there's any more rationale for them changing gauge than, say, Ireland. I don't think converting would be a key impediment to an invading Russian army.
#Finland will begin to #Russia - proof its rail network, integrate with EU train infrastructure.

The Finnish government has announced the conversion of its rail network from Russian gauge (1,524 mm) to European standard (1,435 mm).

I mean that is first level trolling, I'll give them that. The humiliation of Krasnov is just gratuitous now.
Russia flat out rejects Trump's 28-point peace plan: "Even in a reduced military and territorial form, Ukraine would remain a significant danger, requiring us to keep our forces on the western borders."

It is well past the time for scrapping "what the papers say" on all TV "news" programs

On all broadcasting actually. They do not even pretend to be anything but propaganda

Well, this is pretty terrifying. The Daily Mail is buying the Telegraph.

One massive consolidated right-wing media empire controlled by off-shore interests at a critical moment in global politics.

What could go wrong?

Putin's ambitions to conquer Ukraine and recreate the Russian Empire pose a once-in-a-generation threat to the whole of Europe. We cannot allow Trump to reward his aggression.

The Prime Minister must use this opportunity to call for Russia to be removed from the G20.

Ukraine is on the brink of an historic betrayal by Trump to Putin.

Keir Starmer must bring our European allies together to back Zelensky, starting by seizing frozen Russian assets to support Ukraine.

Whatever is in the US peace plan for Ukraine, the chief salient point, and what will remain the chief salient point, is that Russia will not keep to any agreement it signs up to.

What a creepy thing to do, after a bunch of people blocked him EXPLICITLY because we didn’t like the way he quote-posts and tags loads of people into his rambling threads, he does it anyway via a sock-puppet account. Because “no, I don’t wish to engage with you” doesn’t compute for these reply-bros.
