A pivotal moment for Europe is here.

We are ready to mobilise up to €800 billion to help EU countries increase defence spending.

We'll present our proposals to all EU leaders at today's European Council meeting.

Europe is resolved to assume its responsibilities ↓

I suspect that a new folklore of dealing with all manner of autonomous agents may come to exist. William Gibson wrote about how autonomous ai online started for one purpose go on to act somewhat like Jinn..

This depends on building more things on the protocol which given the data set is absolutely worth it
The deep goal of bluesky is to decentralize the social internet so that every individual controls their experience of it rather than having it be controlled by 5 random billionaires. Everyone thinks they signed up for a demuskified twitter...we actually signed an exciting and bizarre experiment.

It’s so nice to be at the stage of a lifetime of a platform when everyone mostly agrees the people running it are working hard and doing a good job. Let’s enjoy that while we can!

Tech people didn’t break the world, we just gave it the tools to break itself. Don’t worry though, we are going to fix it with more technology! :)

A lot of the positions people like RFK jr. take (anti-vax, anti-pasteurization etc.) get described as “controversial.”

They’re not. There is no controversy. This is long-settled science. The correct term is “stupid.”

It’s also about rebellion against people they perceive as being too overtly controlling. People hate feeling like they have lost agency.
At the risk of reading too much into Bluesky’s success at the moment, I do think it’s a signal that people don’t want to be surrounded by bots and manipulated algorithms

AI can only go so far. We want human connection.

It’s the famous halting problem, you have to keep shouting “halt! Who computes there?” If you want an accurate number. It’s voice activated, just try it.
The greatest problem in computer science is estimating software installation time. I just watched my new MacBook Pro go from 3 hours, to 2 hours and 45 minutes, to 2 hours and 43 minutes, to 56 minutes, to “about a minute” in the course of an hour. And that’s where I've been for several minutes.
