It’s remarkable to see the world erupt with disdain over Trump’s “quiet piggy” and “things happen” quips, both absolutely career-ending statements by most politicians. I have become so cynical that I know these won’t sink him, but they don’t help him! I’m surprised by how much he self-owns.

Because of my advanced use of WebKit in my apps, I sometimes need to build and test against a local version of it. I never need a notification that the build is done, because I can tell when my MacBook Pro’s fans turn off.

As I listen to more Todd Snider I appreciate he is the modern folk inheritor of Phil Ochs’s legacy. Under-appreciated and funny as hell, if you take the time to listen.

I came to Jerry Jeff Walker after watching Todd Snider regale an audience with the story of walking with him in Santa Fe, NM, after all the bars had closed. It was a man playing “Mr. Bojangles” on a banjo, while the author of the song, unbeknownst to them, watched. www.youtube.com/watch

Following up on Snider’s death led me to dive deeper on “Mr. Bojangles”, a song I knew but never particularly appreciated. This performance by the author, Jerry Jeff Walker, is captivating. Nobody sings this tranquilly anymore. www.youtube.com/watch

Another woeful occasion where it took the death of an artist for me to take notice of them. Todd Snider seems like somebody I could have been a big fan of, and maybe I still can be. RIP. pitchfork.com/news/todd…

I guess MSNBC rebranded as MS NOW. It took me a while to figure it out because I saw an ad celebrating the change, but I couldn’t tell who they used to be. The site feels like a boilerplate right-wing news theme.

Most Apple platform developers will never need to attach to more than one process at a time, but for those who do, I offer a handy AppleScript to make it easier. Attach to Multiple Processes: indiestack.com/attach-to…

You know it’s bad when Marjorie Taylor Greene is the liberals’ best hope for keeping Trump accountable to facts.

Given how good a job AI does at faking intelligence, it really makes me wonder how many artificial intelligences I’ve admired in other people.

It’s hard to imagine anything better for the intellectual soul than touring a top-tier liberal arts college. Jeez, I just want to hang out in the library forever and learn about thing that aren’t informed by peoples’ opinions about programming languages.

Haha what? If the President of the United States expects to appeal a CIVIL case to the Supreme and get action on it, he’s out of his mind. He’d have to essentially stack the court with loyalists who are more beholden to him that they are to the constitution. Oh.

It’s amusing to see the rising support among Democrats for Gavin Newsom. When Newsom was elected mayor of SF, it was a huge disappointment to many, including me, because he was too conservative. Matt Gonzalez 4 evah!

Good job, Republicans. Your guy is actively trying to starve the poor. Bravi.

I don’t know what “Gay Halloween” is but I love it because gay people rule. If you’re not gay, you should support gay people. If you are gay, you should support gay people, too.

I’ve gotten to the point of parenthood where your kid comes home at midnight with two friends and wants to hang out in the basement until their parents come over to get them. Time is an illusion, parenthood doubly so. (Apologies to Douglas Adams)

A distinct sign of my maturity is that i don’t post everything I think or feel anymore. I know it might seem like I do, to some, but I don’t.

There should be some legal consequence for a President who just up and destroys 1/3 of the White House without consulting anybody. Then again, there should be some legal consequence for a President who does all the things Trump has gotten away with.

Because I was born in the LA area, I was a die-hard LA Dodgers fan as a kid, even though I grew up in the SF Bay Area. Eventually I starting rooting for the Giants, and after moving to Boston 20 years ago, the Red Sox. But now I want the Blue Jays to win. Yes, against my childhood team. Go Toronto!

I’m actually a fan of SwiftUI, but I’m not a fan, as primarily a macOS developer, of the constraints it would place on me. I stay subscribed to SwiftUI help channels primarily to remind myself of the anguish I’m missing by holding out. AppKit + Swift + Mac = Gold.

After working with AI assistance for a number of coding tasks over several months, I think I understand where it lands in terms of human metaphors.

An AI assistant is an extremely knowledgeable, confident, adaptable, and tireless worker with NO GODDAMN COMMON SENSE.
