I feel honored to have been given that title on such a repugnant platform. I'll just keep doing the Lord's work.

Disney has a restaurant named after the violent colonizer Captain James Cook.
I created a petition for them to change the name and would love for anyone to sign and share it.

I'm so confused why Judith Butler was invited to New College, especially after their explicit criticism of DeSantis in their latest book.
Also, BRAND?!?!
This used to be one of the best liberal arts colleges in the country with a vibrant, creative faculty and student body with a big LBGTQ presence. Then Ron Desantis took over. Now it’s this.

On choosing your journal.

I am increasingly ending up in conversations with collaborators, team members, and colleagues about avoiding submitting manuscripts to journals from arguably predatory publishers like MDPI, Frontiers, and others.

Does anyone have the link to this website?
Federal health workers are expressing fear and alarm after a website called “DEI Watch List” published the photos, names and public information of a number of workers across health agencies, describing them as “targets.”

The site calls out workers who have been involved with DEI initiatives. A majority are Black.

FYI: The Havard School of Public Health conducted a “datathon” earlier today to download and salvage as much data as possible. Hopefully the data will be published soon.

I need to do a massive order of academic books as I prepare for exams. I don't want to support Amazon any more than I have to.

Does anyone have suggestions for independent booksellers that stock academic books? Mostly media studies and fan studies.

DeepSeek is growing in popularity, but there are clear examples of straight-up propaganda it's being used to spread. Here's what it gives you when you ask about the treatment of the Uyghur people in Xinjiang. Compare it to Amnesty International xinjiang.amnesty.org

If you are in the U.S. and you aren't following Alt National Parks Service, you need to be.
Elon sent out another email tonight to federal employees, urging us to resign by February 6. The memo was similar to the one received on Tuesday. As with the previous message, this latest communication fails to address concerns about pensions.

Want to help? call your local school board, call your superintendent, show up to board meetings and get this on the agenda. Demand they resist. Do it for the kids who are watching even if nothing changes. These people have to say no to your face.

You know what makes me the most sad?

During the Civil War, we praised the Underground Railroad.

During World War II, we praised The Resistance and the Partisans who hid Jews.

Now a large chunk of America wants to turn in those who hide oppressed people.

We’re going backwards.

Disability inclusion is a big part of the DEI work. You may have to turn it back to calling it ADA compliance.
If you’re in an institution doing any kind of DEI work, the most important thing to do right now is simply call it something else. Change it to “Community Outreach” & then keep on doing the same important work. When they outlaw Community Outreach rebrand it as “Strategic Partnerships,” rinse/repeat.
