I was telling one of my kids that it was physically impossible for an ad to play between songs on any of the records I own, and they asked "and you only have to pay for it once?" and you could see how strange that seemed. You cannot overstate how many basic rules of media consumption have changed.

So, in the same day, we had two military (or former military) men do a mass killing, and they were both using ride-sharing app in order to carry out their terror plans. These vets would have been in Afghanistan, fighting terrorists who would use these same tactics.

In the early 1970s the U.S. was averaging almost five bombings a day. I think a lot of us who didn’t live through that era take for granted the relatively low levels of political violence in the 2020s.
