It seems wrong to make celebratory noises about this but on behalf of my dad who would have wanted a better death, I’m quietly relieved that we may finally make this happen.

I understand that doctors have doubts about the PA role but to read in BBC news that they are taking it out on individual PAs makes me furious. Please direct your anger at policy makers not PAs.

I suspect this will be too twee for words but I’m going to be unable to resist watching it.

If you are in any doubt about supporting assisted dying then please read these human stories. If you are still in any doubt, please come back here and let me tell you how my father died. You need to hear the voices of those affected. #assisteddying

Why is the main argument against assisted dying the suggestion that people might act unlawfully to kill the vulnerable. This option is open to those people now. The law needs to be drafted to forbid this but you can’t draft a law that prevents criminality.

I support assisted dying and hope that it may actually improve palliative care by allowing more conversations about, and planning for, end of life. We must talk more about death.
If you are showing an interest in the upcoming assisted dying bill - you must also read this #NCEPOD report into End of Life Care published this week…. ncepod.org.uk/2024eolc/Ful...

Would love to see this with some outcome data. I know how hard it is but it gives better context to pair classic performance data with the consequences of that performance eg cancer survival, sick days, disability benefits, mortality causes, hospital mortality etc.
This month we've launched a new platform to show how the #NHS is performing. 📈

We've written a Researcher's Guide to Bluesky!

It's a bit like all those other useful guides to Bluesky, but with several useful insights from University of York academics about using the platform, and we'd love it if it was reposted far and wide...

Just finished this touching and fascinating book. While I agree with the rest of Patti Smith’s quoted review, it reminded me how patronising I find it to call people ‘marginalised’.
