If any of those states hit 100, the character dies (and in Dead in Antares, one character dead = game over).
You also want to keep them as low as possible, as the higher they climb, the harsher the negative effects!

If you're at GDC this week, do try to be weary that we're halfway through Ramadan. That means there's a chance that one of the devs you're meeting up is fasting from sunset to sundown. Be mindful and be weary, and if you have any doubt you might be "offending" someone with an action, just ask.
If you're going to be at GDC this week, and especially if you intend to consume alcohol, now is the time to start drinking excessive amounts of water.
