On @cancelmedaddy.bsky.social, we coined the term "Cancel Culture Grift Economy" to describe how this works.
Years ago, my colleagues at Business Insider and I tracked YouTuber “cancellation” arcs. What we found is that for many entertainers, “cancellation” actually sets the stage for a redemption arc, one that can raise their profile higher than ever. It wasn’t career-ending. It was fuel.

Pure hypocrisy of current admin in @whitehouse.senate.gov. imagine if they responded this affirmatively when children are shot in school. And spare us the faux outrage for a woman NG member's death. trump & his staff care NOTHING about violence against women per their policies & comments. GFYSYTC.

Mel Greenberg, then an Inquirer sportswriter, founded a poll that launched women's hoops into the national spotlight — and created a platform for the likes of UConn's Geno Auriemma.
The AP women’s basketball poll turns 50 today. Its story starts here, at The Inquirer

This is insane. And far more explosive than responses I'm seeing... something is lost in journalism because of this. And that guy now has enormous power over our children's health. It is not an overstatement to say ON helped create that reality.

(also, the ex who is NOW outing her is not a hero)

National Guard are not police and do not have the understanding of the local neighborhood or history of any of those areas. We should not have National Guard on our American cities cosplaying police. It’s not safe for us or them. We train police to be on our streets.

Infuriating-- the lack of outrage, the normalizing. Americans were confident that all our systems were safe, and we didn't have to fight for every single thing that made this country extraordinary. Also, journalists have never been able to mentally adjust to covering DT, a criminal president.

It’s questionably written articles like this that make it easy not to donate to The Guardian when I otherwise would.

This lacks journalistic integrity and the title is no different than what I saw from sky news (derogatory).

I'm still too sick to write today but I wanted to talk a little about my Patreon. It is my main source of income and I've always felt too shy to share it as much as I probably should.

Earlier this year I decided to get over that shame. www.patreon.com/posts/too-si...

When I was 16, I announced at the table that I became vegetarian and would not be eating the turkey because eating living things was disgusting, my Granny yelled, "Jesus was a fisherman!" and the entire table fell silent.
yes, hello, I would like to place an order for everyone’s funniest stories of holiday food-related family grudges / drama / chaotic incidents / lore

Yeah but a joke IS a jawn ...a roast too! 😄

Across 26.2 miles, Philly showed up for marathon weekend exactly as Philly does: loud, loving, sarcastic, and full of heart.

As always, the signs told the story — one joke, one jawn, and one roast at a time.

I'll save you the trouble, you don't need to read this. Not linking. What's amusing about the piece is that before she argues, she lists all the sensible reasons for the cultural comparison. Also, why would you write about subjects/people that mean "nothing" to you?

It holds up because the reason ON is embarrassing to journalism is that she didn't seem to care about journalism at all, despite the power and opportunity given to her. And that's fu**ing depressing & frustrating.
