I am writing about what is happening to federal personnel policy. One difficulty is that it's hard to observe and verify what is actually happening. I am particularly interested in information about the employment status of individuals working with/in DOGE. Anonymous tips welcome. Signal: Nbednar.46

America flourished.
"American First" is really "America Alone."

Forget Danny Ocean; he's part of the reason we're in this mess.
Do we need a movie where Danny Ocean, Ethan Hunt, and Nicolas Cage team up to stop a villain—middle aged white man with foreign accent—and his teenage minions from pulling off the biggest heist in history, stealing everyone’s data from the govt?

Will that get the public to treat it as actually bad?

Consider switching to credit unions. Your funds are safeguarded by a different agency, and you might enjoy better service along with fewer fees.
do you enjoy knowing that when you deposit money in a US bank, you won't lose that money? nice, right?

it's because bank deposits are insured by FDIC.

i don't know what FDIC ever did to these people, but apparently it too is now on their blow-it-up list:

A government-wide hiring freeze is adding to a staffing shortage at the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp., complicating the agency’s efforts to oversee thousands of banks across the country.

I really enjoy watching PBS NewsHour; it's an excellent program.
A while back I asked folks why they’re joining Bluesky and the most common response I saw was, “I just want a good place to get my news” and, yall, no. Bad.

As a true millennial, she was born ten years after the Beatles broke up and two years after ABBA disbanded, so she doesn't really have a personal connection to their music. Still, she considers "Waterloo" to be a quintessentially British war song in her mind.
I suspect the very worst thing you could do to Kemi Badenoch, from Kemi Badenoch’s point of view, is feel sorry for her. But there is no uncontroversial answer to the (stupid) question about your favourite Beatles song.

Each color shows the passage of time. As the bright flash of light left the star, it illuminated the dust surrounding it, but because space is so big, we actually see the light travelling and illuminating the dust as it goes along.
